So I've taken my 6 to have its cambelt done and a service at pug1off and asked them if they would kindly check it over and let me know if they find anything I've missed.

A few things that i'm not worried about came up but a few unexpected ones to.

So:

NSR axle play excessive - will this be a new refurbed beam?

Sump damaged but not leaking - Any idea of cost for supply and fit a new sump?

Steering column top bearing play - Is this something I can do myself by just replacing the upper column, easy job? I do notice the play so would like to get this sorted. Also are the steering columns the same between the phases?

Thanks for that sorta what I expected then. I'd be happy with a standard beam sounds like roughly £230 when you part exchange your own beam. Although I imagine I would need new wheel bearings as the old ones will most likely not come off in one piece? Anything else that would be recommended to replace when doing this job?

If anyone has a ph2 steering column up for grabs or any idea on how to change the bearing it would be much appreciated!

You can buy the chep beam and hop it lasts bear in mind you need to put at least 100 on that for bearings you may need new shocks if they are original etc etc

Have an im axle on my white 6 its done less than 2k and looks crusty poor finish ???

Yeah I don't wanna go cheap but don't exactly know what my options are. I'm not mechanically minded enough to refurb it myself and they offer to collect your old beam, and living in a flat with nowhere to store a second beam it sounds perfect! What would you suggest I do, is there somewhere I can buy a better quality refurbed beam?

Stef on 306oc does rebuilt beams for a very, very good price if you give him your old one. He even offers fitting if you travel to him. I forget where he's based though.
