Okay fella. Ta very much. I'll let you know on it as do have the unknown spare and to be fair, I drove it last night and it was absolutely flying with the decat and de-resonated inlet manifold, newer injectors and coils and and a huge array of sensors and an ecu. LOL

Is there a way to lock a soft unlocked to my car?

If it's soft unlocked it should lock to your car once you switch it off...then to unlock it again you will need to cut power to it after you've gone two clicks on the ignition.

I dont think it will lock to his car. It will just lock and wont start the car again. You need to leave transponder unplugged

Ah that's what I'd heard Ryan. I might invest in an unlocked one if I see one cheap enough.

Yes mate. Just running to check it stays okay. We used the soft unlocked ecu and another set of coils and the problem was sorted. Put the old ecu in lastnight and it seems perfect. In fact, better than perfect. It f**king flies for a standard one now. And the the noise we always thought was a lazy lifter when cold appears to have gone too.

Interesting.

I'm glad you've made some progress, most likely your original ECU suffered from water after the jetwashing. Pretty unlucky for that to happen though.

That's the thing, we refitted the old ecu and it's fine. Very odd.

It may have had a drop of water in it and by removing the ECU it has been dislodged and now the unit functions as normal.

Glad it appears to be resolved anyhow. Thumbs up

Maybe. Who knows. LOL

Seems alright now and as I say, it flies with all new or lower mileage bits and the few other little mods we did along the way. Smile

Changing the ecu never cured anything so I don't think it was the problem. The first time it ever ran nicely for a couple of hours was after I cleaned up all the earth's and added an extra one to the head. It then ran fine until Aaron collected it and it then misfired again on and off causing backfires etc.

I think it was the fact the loom and the arts got wet that started the initial problems with the earth's on the gearbox / wing then there was another sensor and a coil that weren't happy after it had misfired a lot and not burned a load of fuel. (Also destroyed the cat)

The ecu was bone dry however there was an oily residue on the pins but that didn't seem to be affecting anything and may have been there for years.

It would then run fine for a while then a dodgy coil would mess about. God knows though tbh we changed just about everything and cleaned up everything so could have been anything really.

As you say Pete, it was probably a whole host of things which snowballed from a relatively simple fault to begin with.

Glad it's fixed though, was a head scratcher...

Does look good now though. Gotta be one of the better looking 160+k engine bays now.
