So I'm wondering if anyone knows why she only runs for 45 secs at a time. Is there a sensor that kicks in after this amount of time? And any clues why I'm getting only intermittent fuel pump primes?
Cheers

So my poor 6 has been sitting unloved for about 18 months and I've had a bit of trouble getting her going again. When I try to start it the fuel pump only primes on the odd occasion. When it does prime she starts and idles OK but only for about 45 seconds at a time. Even if I try to hold the revs up a bit with the throttle it just dies. On the occasions when there is no fuel pump prime she just spins and spins. So far I've cleaned the IAC with no improvement. So I'm wondering if anyone knows why she only runs for 45 secs at a time. Is there a sensor that kicks in after this amount of time? And any clues why I'm getting only intermittent fuel pump primes? Cheers |

Poor connection to anything after sitting for that long. If it cuts out when you've still got you're foot on the throttle it can't be icv related more likely url pump failing or dodgy fuel after that long sitting about in the tank. I'd change the multifunction relay behind the battery next. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Try removing and cleaning up all earth points in the engine bay too - could have started to corrode and making bad connections.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Thanks for the responses...The tank was empty when I left it sitting so old fuel shouldn't be an issue. I put a good half tank in before I tried restarting it. If the fuel pump relay were dodgy would it be priming at all? It starts pretty easily if it's been sitting for a while it just won't prime and run again once it's died after the aforementioned 35-45 seconds. |

Id go for fuel pump and as said the relay but considering it sitting so long id try a full service first spark plugs change the battery if even just to test it fuel filter etc sounds like lack of fuel could be lack of electrical power go for the cheap bits first filters sparks and borrow a known good battery make sure mice havent got into the air intake mice can only hold onto there nest for 45 sec before one or the other gets sucked into the pipe blocking the air flow Mice are notoriously strong but only for around 45 secounds at a time ( life knowledge) ________________________________________ BLACK RALLYE - phoenixWHITE RALLYE - valliant http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history |
