I'm having the same issue with mine, love the popping and bbbwwwhhhaaammm!!! on the short trips, but the long ones down motorways are just painful. I have no idea whats fitted to mine, any idea on how I would find out? Whats the best way of making an exhaust quieter?

Take a pic n post it chap may be able to tell
Is it the back box thats noisy or the cat

It is possible to reduce exhaust noise usually resulting in a loss of power best to change it if your not happy
Im sure theres plenty of spares floating around

Ill get a pick when I get home, I imagine the back box as it's not much wider in diameter than the tip. Been looking online for a while to find something that looks similar but can't find anything. It has a metal plate between backbox and the tip on the underside, i assume for support. I don't think that's a repair job but cant find anything else to compare.

No mate back box looks like a custom and the cat is a cheap 3rd party job

That plate is just to stop the tube snapping off i would invest a few pennies in a nice scorpion back box
And if the cat passed mot keep it till is doesnt or source a nice oem 2nd hand cat youll be suprised at the difference
Will probably perform better all round and sound really nice

Yeah the cat passed the last MOT although just... Any idea where I would source a new scorpion back box? Also should there be a centre silencer between the cat and the back box?

Yeah there should be a middle box. What sort of connection does the back box have to the middle section?

Looks like your wheel in that pic is buckled.

In my experience, the mid box doesn't reduce the volume through most of the rev range by very much, what it does do though, is remove the drone when the engine is under load at certain rpms and on the motorway.

You get a lovely tone without it, but the trade-off is boom and drone under certain scenarios.

If you have an OEM backbox the centre silencer doesn't make a whole lot of difference to the sound really.

I don't know what the connection is from the backbox to the middle. Would I need to remove the backbox to tell? Sounds like a centre section and new backbox might be the way to go then if I don't want it drony on the motorway and a little quieter.

I hadn't noticed that buckle but I see what you mean, I will have another look when I get home, hopefully its just the way the dirt is sitting.

Would this be what I should get? Price I should expect?

Nah that's just a slight flat spot on the inner rim happens a lot on cyclones from potholes as their made of cheese. Wouldn't worry about it if it holds pressure ok.

Plenty of 2nd hand scorpion rear silencers around for reasonable money.

They sound good, the fitment isn't the best, although most I've seen have 2 hangars, std. is 3 and some seem to have 3 so maybe they align better. They are also not the most durable on the market. They do fit a standard centre section.

Your cat looks to be joined to a non-standard centre section.

If you can get under the back and get a photo of the joint between the centre section and the backbox that'd let us know whether or not it would fit the scorpion silencer without modification.

I was looking at my local POWERFLOW dealers website as my current exhaust is driving me mad and they claim "We can increase your vehicle's horsepower by at least 25HP". I thought the max power bulls**t BHP days were gone...

Anyone tried the hoffman replacement exhausts?

The pattern exhaust came in today at the dealer and its a Veneporte PG45557, Peugeot part number E12839S at £244.66.

I did a bit of a search and I don't know why Peugeot charge so much for an £80 unit.

Found the same unit on Amazon
Amazon part

You can see the quality is no where as good as the one that came in the other week. Gutted it didn't have the chrome end on it.

Thing that makes me laugh is on the Veneporte write up it says OE quality, this thing is so far from OE quality.

I would have stuck with the first one, the chrome tip will probably stay chrome for all of two weeks.

That's what I was thinking now.

I've been looking but all the ones I've found are too large or totally the wrong shape.

I'm thinking now that I should have got the first exhaust and had a chrome end made for it.
