So basically it’s now got a angle back but the original lip is still on it to fit the front section from France |

Tomorrow I can release the clamps and then tape up the outside and smooth more Black VM100 two pack around the outside edge to make it look as per original French one then x4 coats of PU lacquer the whole rear section to protect it and so it matches the front end .... Then just a little more messing about with the Mk 2 dash |

Been bonding new ends on my mk2 dash which is going to be used as a mould ....Out of the clamp and bonded together....Also taped up both sides of the rear maxi inlet box and smoothed and blended it in a per original from France with VM100 two pack black bond ...really pleased with it and it came out much better than I expected Just needs a hand sand with 360grit padded paper = light sand down to get a key and let the 4 coats of clear coat -PU UV 2pack spray Yellow marks are for trumpet locations |

All I can say even with 50mm Diamond drill bits and Perma-Grit Dremel bits this Carbon fibre / Kevlar composite is a nightmare to drill and smooth and stop fraying |

Once I’ve got my Maxi Air-box fixed which will hopefully be by Saturday I will then start modding my bonnet to close around it ...I’ll remove the inner twin skin underside that touches the air box when closed ... the green masking tape is ontop to give me a guide and try it ...then if needed make a slight bulge and shape the bonnet ready to have a single skin Carbon one made with support bracing underside .. This one will be used for a new mould |

I stripped the engine that was in goldie last week, the top piston ring in each cylinder has chipped and lost some of its coating. I'll upload some photos this weekend and update my project thread, luckily the bores appear to have survived. Pretty sure my coolant temperature being so high has been a big factor in it and there's also signs of detonation which i think is what actually killed the rings.Good luck with bracing a single skin bonnet, mine was comical when i didn't have my middle aerocatch and aluminium stiffeners bonded in, it was wild above 100mph Edit: Once again, top work ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
