Hi all,

I have been looking at getting a set of team dynamics 1.2s for a little while,
due to the great price point compared to oz racing (half the price),
and the weight reduction of 2kg per rim + any rubber from a bigger rim.

Demon Tweeks currently have Black Friday specials, $850 AUD for 17"s, saving of $230 compared to other stores.
is this a great deal? if so any advice on sizing and tires, preferences on colors, my Rallye is black.

i was looking at getting 17"s with a 45 profile tire as below, would this cause any problems?

17's are a bit big, i'd go 15 or 16, cheaper too

that's why i was wanting the 45 ratio instead of a 40.
i agree 15s would be better, would anyone have a photo of 15s?
16s go to 7" wide the same as 17s with little weight difference between the two.

Demon Tweeks have a lot of great deals, have you spotted anything a stock car might be interested in?

I've got 1.2s /16s for track work because they go over my 330 Brakes just .
I've got Mo5s Compomotive 17s for everyday use .

Run 205/50/16s had to roll arches...

Run 205/45/17s they both hit 6 gearbox on lock only one way & not a issue as long as your Mot testers friendly ...

I never use 17s now as 16s feel & I think look better ...
Run completely diff tyres on each so can't compare them ....

I have 30mm drop

17" are 7.8kg 15" are 6.2kg, for the same size i might as well stick with the cyclones?

cyclones are nearly 9 kg.

17"s only look sweet if you're a 90's max power guy.

I agree with your points, i just don't see the point for the same size, but that is a huge weight difference.

Where would i get a Maxi body?

I tried 16's 1.2's on a 330 set up no where near, really don't know how people are getting them over the calipers

Which 330s ? ....two types of caliper fittings
I've got the older Brembos 406 calipers !

You may have Renault Calipers ?..

I always preferred 17's over 15's, 205 40 17 gave far better handling imho..

310mm RS Brembos barely fit under 16s, no chance the 330mm RS kit would! Surprised there's such a different in size with the 330mm Pug Brembo kit and the 330mm RS kit but I guess they're mounted differently so it makes sense

Do you mind saying which wheel? Does it require spacers? I've been wanting to try the race car on 15s but don't really want to sacrifice the brakes (even though I could get some APs or something)

Rubber band profile tyres might "feel" better due to turning in feeling sharp and quick due to there not being much sidewall to deflect, but a very limited amount of possible deflection and therefore a more limited ability to maintain a large contact patch is not so good.

Big alloys and rubber band tyres = looks cool & feels sporty due very snappy turn-in to the average consumer who buys a new car to drive on the road nowhere near the limit.
