I've a pair of 'odd' springs which I've just removed from a pair of shocks.

One has coloured spots painted on which appear to be the original spring from my googling. The other doesn't have this, appears to be newer and had a code printed on it.

They are different lengths. Anyone any idea what vehicle the newer one is intended for? Partner perhaps?

I believe all the pug ones come with spots from new i have two sets of new one for rallye and one for gti6 all have the dots at a guess i would suggest it was for the car it was removed from but an aftermarket shorter stiffer spring

Pug and citroen both use dots i think berlingo 5002 p9 fit gti6 facelift and so on all with dots

is that two white one green? printed number will be KYB or something like that, hence not being the same length, is the wire diameter the same?

Appreciated that falling of a tractor is scary and it could indeed cause anal leakages!!! I do believe however unless you have been eating your crayons chap! This amount of multicoloured markings is a concern and a trip to the old quacks is in order
Im guessing it was the sheer cold from the aircon that caused you to shiver loose focus and fall !perhaps a higher temp setting !!!!!!?

    Interesting, thanks.

The Spring wire is the same thickness on both.

Do we think the length difference could be partially the older one sagging slightly? I hadn't noticed a height difference when they were on the car. Perhaps it's negligible when under compression or I didn't take enough notice.

Anyone want to buy an odd pair of springs? LOL

Strength in carbon springs is dependant on the mixture and amount of carbon in the steel not the thickness of the coils/wire i would imagine they where uneven and there compression rate would be off aswell possibly not by much

And no dont require dodgy springs ! Ebay the peugeot one someone will have a snapped one that needs replacing Smile

Very common for the vans to snap springs and only have one replaced.

Peugeot do it by wire diameter and number of coils, far too many variations to use different metals but rolling a bit of wire to a smaller diameter is easy.
