If you go ahead and just unbolt the subframe, the steering rack pipes and column will be taking the weight because the rack is bolted to the subframe. So ensure you unbolt the rack and column first, or at least the column and undo the pipes.________________________________________ |

Yeah, sorry I'd assumed you'd removed the rear engine mount fork and at least undone the wishbone pinch bolt and joint, if not the whole bone from the subframe. Gear stick ball shouldn't be tricky at all to pop off. If you remove the metal cap from the linkage arm you will find a bolt underneath which holds that assembly on. Are the bolts for the cups anything special which a fastenings place/ebay can't supply? The pitch and length will be on ServiceBox. ________________________________________ |

I've removed more 306 subframes than I care to remember, but I've never actually removed the mounting cups. The mount bracket attached to the block is positioned with a dowel so you couldn't locate that incorrectly before passing a shaft through it. The fork itself is self explanatory when you see it. You'll be able to swing the engine forwards by hand to line the holes up with the bush. ________________________________________ |

My two pence on it, when you remove the two bolts which hold the subframe to the cups in the inner arches. Water can collect there and cause the bolts to snap .Happened to me, be prepared for the cup mounting bolts to snap at worst case .They can be drilled out and tapped though !________________________________________ Astra burg #365 Garrett Power'99 bodied 6 track project |

Drilling and tapping was my main concern its not a problem have been engineering for many years now just need the thread type believe it to be 175 hoping i can tighten first then unbolt best way to avoid sheared bolty on but threadsMy mounting cups are also rotten or at least crusty have new on the way with the holding nuts peugeot do all except bolts am going a little overboard but am restoring to oe as best as possible even bolts and clips ________________________________________ BLACK RALLYE - phoenixWHITE RALLYE - valliant http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history |
