I want to run 21" TBs on my Rallye with a standard ARB, what is everyone's experience? I will be running them with Bilstein B8s on the the front and B6s on the rear.
Does the spring rate need to be considered when running 21" TBs?

I hope you mean 21mm, 21" TBs would be pretty big! People have run them with a standard ARB without issues I believe. You will ideally want to pair the spring rate with the TB size. I remember seeing a handy table on the forum somewhere which lists TB size and preferred front spring rate but can't find it at the moment. ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Perhaps match with VTS front springs and have the benefit of the subtle drop. ________________________________________ |

From the 106 forum:18mm 90lb/inch 19mm 110lb/inch 20mm 135lb/inch 21mm 165lb/inch 22mm 195lb/inch 23mm 235lb/inch 24mm 280lb/inch 25mm 330lb/inch Perhaps proportionally adjust for the extra length of a 306 bar over the 106 items. ________________________________________ |

I ran 21mm with stnd ARB but with the better Bilstein group N Tarmac rear dampers & front B8s with Eibach springs from Kam racing & my 6 was amazing at Castle Combe FCS & Amazing at Prescott hill climb Pugfest ...Have solid rear mounts all times .... Now gone to 30 ARB biggest I could fit ...but still kept 21mm bars in refurbed Jord294 axle ...but also gone to Bilstein GroupA Peugeot Sport rear dampers from Kam racing ...was scary responsive round corners & felt really more planted out of corners at same Combe track last month after FCS . Was it worth all the cost ....NO ....did I notice difference YES ....10% better ....which is a lot in handling terms ... My tyres with the new setup are working harder now...but I'm going quicker But I do have a 3j plate diff which I think compliments my newer setup better ...now coming out of corners flatter & seems to be making my stnd b8 fronts / Eibachs work less ...it gives for more road feel now ...much twitcher yes ...but more feel & feed back on the wheel ... Also used both in the heavy rain & the Stnd ARB with 21mm bars was easier to driver but not so planted ....my driving style may be different to others but the car feels much quicker in the dry & wet now but you feel more on the edge in the wet & it feels like it wants to beat you up in the wet now ... Hope this helps PS forgot ...before running both set ups I have removed 110kgs of weight from the car also . Used same tyres both times at Combe . Also... My mechanic driver friend doesn't like 30arb because it's less forgiving even in the dry .... I think ...the 21mm with stnd ARB & bilstein group N rear dampers with front b8s / Eibachs is a amazing setup & really hard to beat all round ....never used B6 stnd sorry A good read ...http://www.timeattack.co.uk/bilstein-the-lowdown/#sthash.PEHE5Gdo.dpbs |

You going for solid mounts too? It's really not a necessity. I love the way mine corners on the rubber mounts.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Na, I'm going to keep it on rubber mounts. I'd like to retain some of the road compliance |

I've put solids on the road car and am not massively convinced. I have them on the race car and it's fine but just seems a bit meh on the road car.________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Couldn't tell you the spring rates of the Eibachs but I run them with B8's up front, B6's at the rear and 21mm bars, standard ARB. For the road I think it's the perfect balance. Not taken it on track yet but get the feeling it will perform well. It's the wrong set up for an all out track car but for fast road / track days it's perfect.________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

No worries, I’ve had Bilstein B8s / Eibach springs / 21mm bars and thought that the setup was excellent for general use.I liked it enough to fitted similar kit (B8s with Eibhach springs) on my E46 BMW (when original dampers started to leak) and it does not work – too stiff for road use. ________________________________________ Cherry Red Rallye Project threadWhiteBMW M140i |

funny that, I have b8 and alpina/eibach on sn e34, its still so comfortable! still leans like hell but has quite a lot of mechanical grip for an old car.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
