During a long road trip yesterday i noticed a noisy rattle coming from the engine bay. Its a metal tiny sound (technical term there) LOL

it's most noticeable above 3k rpm when you let off the throttle and it was also present at cold start this morning but disappeared when warm at idle.

the car doesn't drive or respond any different to normal.

A mechanic mate had a very quick look at it and thinks it could be the pulleys near the charger.

He noticed one did have a bit of play in it but very minimal.

Anyone had a similar issue or seen it before?

Cheers Thumbs up

Have a look at the heat shield that bolts to the exhaust manifold behind the back cam cover, they're known to come loose and create that exact issue! Thumbs up

Hi jeffers, Ive had a good look round the back of the engine and cant find or feel anything thats loose or anything that was touching or rubbing.

Are there any other bits commonly known to cause this sort of rattle?

Cheers

Hi Guys, found the issue! Turned out that the lamda sensor had worked slightly loose and the washer on that was what was rattling.

Quick tighten up and problem solved.

Funny that something so small was causing such a horrendous noise
