Thanks in advance
Edit: I should add this won't be a daily driver either so running costs are not overly important.

I'll be soon looking for a car that I can take to the ring and have a bit of fun in it so I'm open to suggestions. I'd like it to be manual, obviously good handling and be around £8k, maybe £9k absolutely max. If possible something a little bit exclusive but I know that' might not be possible. So far I've thought about a classic Subaru Impreza P1 a Honda DC5 or maybe a Renault R26 (R26-R is ridiculously expensive). I haven't done much research on any car in particular yet so any ideas/advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance Edit: I should add this won't be a daily driver either so running costs are not overly important. ________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

m3 evo coupe (3.2, not 3.0 nonce ones)going up majorly in value too for clean tidy ones, 321bhp n/a and bags of torkz, will run rings around most stuff, ~12 seconds to 100mph as standard. on my 3rd and struggling to find any faults with it i was in the same boat, looked at all sorts, clio 197's, lancers, 335i coupes, the lot. the m3 evo wins hands down running costs can be an issue but if you are a rich drug dealer who inflicts misery on others for a career like me it's no worries (or this is what i have been told?) budget £20 for any journey up to 10 miles though as that's what it seems to cost in fuel mine's my 4th car so doesn't get loads of usage ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Not a bad shout there Rikky, I'll look into that. There was a guy on BMWLand who bought a red one recently and was restoring it to mint condition, absolutely stunning and I did hear a lot of people prefer them over the E46.________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

i've had the e46 and the e36 evo m3's before. the e46 is built better but the e36 is a complete menace. i was going to buy an e46 again but went 600 mile round trip for the e36 againif you can deal with the whole internet hyping up the vanos problems, then it's the car for you red one he bought was probably the gt2 as there's not many in red. the gt2's are essentially the same car, just a few other goodies, nothing major or performance related ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

I'll be honest I was trying to steer away from BMW as I'm on my fifth one now as a family car but they seem to make so much sense, lot of bang for buck.________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

bmw really got it right because they're stupidly fast, bags of room for stuff, and they're reliable. try doing 120k in a tvr and putting your shopping and kids in it my next car is a 997/996 turbo in guards red though without doubt ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

This is my latest:Just got back from Nürburg yesterday (not on the ring) and got up to 142mph before having to back off, I think that was nearly its limit anyway. Lovely car, great tourer but a little dull. ________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

what model is that? looks awesome. yesterday on my way home i saw a touring like yours - had twin exhausts at the back so assume 335i/335d in estoril blue, it looked fantastici get confused sometimes with the new 3/5 series! ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

This is a 325d (218bhp), it has the twin pipes. Really pulls but you can barely feel it which is why it's no fun but that wasn't the point when we got it. That's why I need a car that's fun and can be chucked around.________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

Megane > Clio.IMO. But then I wouldn't buy a Renault whilst they are in that leg of depreciation. I'd be inclined to go down the BMW route. Possibly a 5 series. ________________________________________ |

For £9k there isn't really much fun you can't have save supercars. V8's, 500bhp, Turbo's, Fanboy imports, big power N/A... it's all available. What sort of things interest you? My money would likely end up on an E46 M3 with some go faster bits. ________________________________________ 2005 Peugeot 206 GTI 1802008 BMW K1200R |

8k will get you a good Evo 6, not much can keep with a good Evo in the real world.Impreza Type R or Type RA are fun cars and not drastically expensive. For balls out fun though I would be inclined to go a Westfield/Caterham or similar ________________________________________ 306 GTI 6 Track Car in the making....Evo 5 GSR 360bhp....for now |
