Does the late and early type denote the rad or the type of 306 it fits? Or put another way will one fit my S reg Rallye

It refers to the hose fitting on the rad. Your rallye should have the early type.

The late type didn't come out until the ph3s Chris.
It's not likely that someone's changed the hose and the rad.
Can always suply a hose with the rad though.

All my rallyes have had later type rads and on any 306 now adays changing things is very likely. Its not hard to crawl under the car and check ?
