I've started a few threads about rear suspension because I still can't pin point what is up with mine.
It's a knock over rough ground under braking. I've been told to check calipers for loose bolts but they're fine. Also I was told to check the beam mounts but they were new 3 years ago.

FYI i did a full beam rebuild 3 years ago.

If it helps, the knock sounds like two pices of steel tapping against each other.

When the boot has a dead weight in it the knock virtually disappears altogether

Knock over bumps particularly when cornering or braking or both is knackered beam mounts usually. Were they genuine pug ones or cheap ones? I've had cheap ones last 6 months before..... Genuine ones last years.

However it's more Of a loud thudding from the back over bumps than a metali noise though.

I've had a very similar noise on a beam when the Rubber ARB seals were completely fooked so the ARB jumps about and clangs against the beam tube.

Would a mount thud not be more of a knock opposed to metal clanging together like the OP suggests?

I had a metallic clanging and it was the bolt holding the ARB end flag on coming loose.

I had this in my old beam,
Never caused an issue but it was ANNOYING AS HELL.

I always assumed it was the rubbers
