So I had a go at chopping the K20 inlet up to make an inlet, pretty hard work with a 4.5' grinder because it won't go in all the areas so the hacksaw was used too. Short time later I ended up with this. The runners aren't the same length at the moment so tomorrow's job will be to get them equal. Colin sells DCOE flanges so migt be able to get someone to weld a set of flanges on for me and sell the XU inlet on.

It's pretty much the same length as the Colin XU one.

Pretty much back to the drawing board on the throttle bodies due to the width of the Lotus bodies, itll be the same problem on DCOE Jenveys etc. Lesson learnt but atleast the setup I purchased is easily sell able. I require SF style Jenveys ideally due to being 4 x single bodies and can be spaced to fit.

On the exhaust side of things my Japspeed manifold arrived today, Im really impressed with the quality of this, I was a little worried because of the price at a whooping £109 brand new, but i'll just enjoy the cost of mass produced jap tuning products!

Also i was expecting to lengthen the secondaries to improve the torque, for some reason I had in my head they would be 7-8" but after a measure its 10-11" which is great, im hoping to leave the flexi end attached and join it into my exhaust i have built without too much bother.

Manifold gets fitted

But fowls on steering rack. For a few reasons I decided to move the engine location back a bit which actually gives better shaft angles now, exhaust fits so win win.

Because I had to chop the engine mounts out and start again I decided to do a more professional job on the engine mounts...

Gearbox one done.

Finished product

Much happier with this mount than the old one

Exhaust now fits.

Engine mount to do possibly tomorrow.

Progress has been slow. I ran out of space inside at work due to being really busy so it went outside with a car cover on. I then went to Whistler for a month on the downhill bike.

Hoping to get it back in the workshop in the next week or two.

Well... some progress..

A friend had all the front end parts i needed being wishbones, hubs, brakes and suspension so I could get the thing back onto its wheels so I could then move it back to the workshop and be able to work on it. I also picked up a 205 GTI interior which was in good condition so that went in today aswell.

So now the front has Bilstein shocks on Eibach springs, 1.9 hubs, GTI-6 brakes, and all complete.

It also got a wash!

GTI Interior going in

350mm OMP wheel I had spare went in

Next up is to get it to the back of the workshop where I can get it up on stands and finish the conversion.

Also shortly about to order a set of XXR wheels, 15x8,25". Probably run 215 45R15 tyres.

These Beauties...

Im thinking about buying 4, but running two on the front of the 205 and two on the front of the 309. Then run the TD 1.2's on the rear of both cars...

They are XXR 527. I'll be buying them in 4x108 15"x8.25" ET0

Well as ive finished all the work in the engine bay I took the engine out for the last time (I hope) and painted it graphite grey to match the lower trim of the car.

Then painted the engine block

I need to order my BBM mounts then I can refit the engine properly, the mounts ive been using so far are just standard jobbies and arent going to cut the mustard. Also on the drivers higher engine mount i wont be running the chocks so needs to be an uprated mount.

Looks like something a friend of mine makes, pretty specialist piece of kit. You do golf courses as well as cars then?

These are made in Sheffield by a company called ATT. I'm a dealer of their products.

Sports turf, horticultural and Foresty equipment is my job. Cars are just the hobby! Smile
