Hi, I'm replacing my rubber flexis with braided items
In doing this I have noticed that most of my old brake pipe is pants and that most of the unions have rounded dispite using the correct tools so I am going to be replacing my brake pipe with copper.

Can anyone advise on which type of flares I should use

Do all 'male' type fittings use a single flare and all 'females' use a double?

Can't help you with your specific question bud, but have you any experience with flaring copper pipe?

Reason I ask is that I haven't done it much myself, but when I was training 25 years ago it was a bit of an art. You would get the pipe to almost where you wanted it to be and if you went a little too far or too fast with the flare it would crack and you would waste the whole length.

Hopefully the tools and pipe have moved on in that time but def practice first if you haven't done it before

If you invest in a good flaring tool, your nan could do it.

You can easily lose an extra 20mm when routing them under the car, so adding that on to your measurement won't hurt incase you mess the end of a cut piece.

I've managed to make some nice flares with practice Smile I just seem to be reading contradictory things in regards to single or double flares

I did the pipes on mine with no issues at all. Single flares should be ok.
