Not that it matters to me but how do you tell if they are 'in date'?
Thats what's on the side of them!
Cheers

I think expiry as that will be what scrutineers check, they won't want to do the maths on when expiry would be if it's manufacture.________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Can be either mate, there's stainless allen key bolts in the side and there's threaded holes on the frame on the underside. |

Just to clarify, the MSA currently have no rules about "lifing" of seats, so you can use a seat of any age in an MSA sanctioned event as long as it is fit for purpose, safely secured etc. The expiry date only becomes an issue if you wish to race abroad - these events are run to FIA regulations, which do require an in-date seat. Occasionally a UK championship ventures abroad, but it's not that regular at club level. the "FIA 8855 1999" refers to the standard to which these seats were manufactured. I don't know how old a seat can be to be okay for FIA racing.I should point out that this is for circuit racing. I suspect it is the same for rallying, but that's not something I've ever seriously looked into. Maybe devere could clarify that. Seatbelts are very definitely lifed - the date on the belt is the expiry date. That doesn't mean it's not still useable e.g. for road or trackday use, it just won't pass scrutineering. ________________________________________ "Talking about badgers is life. Seats are marked with manufacturing date and they're valid for 5 years where applicable but can be inspected by the manufacturer and extended for a further 2 years.Msa circuit racing doesn't require in date seats but rallying does. Personally I wouldn't use stainless bolts to mount a seat, unless they're something special stainless is generally like chocolate. ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

Thanks for the info. So these are infact 'in date' until june 2016?Seems to be an issue when buying/selling seats even though in reality it probably doesn't make any difference as I imagine the majority of seats end up in track day cars etc. I say the bolts are stainless, they may not be! Just looked like it at a quick glance! |
