It's en route. My concern is that it's a price that's too good to be true. So I'll post up photos when it arrives to make sure it's all that it's claimed to be. And if it's the real deal everyone can fill their boots. Or i could just buy them all and put them on ebay (joking) ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Phase 1 and 2 have different pipe fittings, phase 1 is screw in same as gti6, phase 2 are push fit. Only way to check if its a phase 1 is check the lock 2 lock of it as far as i know________________________________________ 1998 Supercharged White Rallye1992 205 GTi6 205 Turbo 340bhp |

Despite speaking to guy on phone and confirming in writing that it was for a 98 xsara vts, I've just opened the rack and it has 1.4 petrol written on it! ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

The guy is insisting it came of a VTS! So what's the easiest way to check the turn to turn. Do i just turn the square bolt bit using brute force with pliers or is there a knack? (apologies for stupid question in advance!) Ta ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Turn the square drive all the way to one side and count how many turns it takes to go to the other. If you can't turn it with your fingers with relative ease, I'd be questioning whether it's 100% inside. I've done the same test on 2 racks this week and they were easy to twist by hand on the drive without the lower column fitted. I haven't forgotten about your lights by the way! ________________________________________ |

Cheers Dan will give it a go later. No worries - gonna give them the black masks treatment so no rush. It was over 3 turns and also had the pleasant job of clearing up all the fluid that leaked all over the place when i was manually turning it! So i got a refund and to bin that part I've now been offered another rack. And i've been told it's definitely a VTS one. But because there is no ram on it (i'm guess that's the bit the fluid goes into - i watched a youtube video a few weeks back but it didn't stick!) they can't be sure it's only 2 turns as.... I've to call and speak to the tech tomorrow. Comes with 12 month warranty FWIW. And the guy i spoke to said i could return if it's wrong. But it looks in good nick (see photos). Asking 90quid for it. So not a bargain but not too bad. So if i was to buy this......could i just swap it out with what i have in the 6? Or do i need the xsara ram that goes with it (which i guess i have on the 1.4 petrol one i have)? Never even seen a steering rack a few weeks back! So not quite clued up on the details! Hence the questions. Ta MisterGTR has attached the following image: ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

10 out of ten for sticking with it and trying to find one at a decent price. If its a vts phase one ram withy he same pipe connections as the 6 you simply use the ram you already have fitted, so basically you swap ram for ram |
