Lol thanks guys I was wondering at the beginning as the guy I bought it off told me that he'd checked it out on the forum but then I must admit you got me!

It's a bit tatty now to be honest, could probably be saved but I bought it to do a conversion on my 205 CTi project... so sorry to say but it's unlikely to ever be back to it's best....

I wouldn't feel guilty. You aren't the first to break a useable example Smile

Smile I tried to join the 205 GTI Drivers forum but they're not accepting new members or something?! So I might start a build thread on here at some point...

Having collected a pile of bits and a couple of cars I've got a week off work to get started next week

Looks like it won't get sorted out. It's a donor car. Pete26 will miss that old bird.

I'll be sad to see it go down like that. Here it is with my china.

Please note that it's one of the few 6's I made a custom stainless steel lower strut brace for. That should be worth a little bit. Wink

Thanks Aaron, any idea of what else has been done to the suspension?

It's had some new style headlights fitted and different wheels since those pictures, I'll try and get a picture or two up later

Why doesn't the 205 forum ever seem to accept new members? I've heard that for years now ...

i forget the exact circumstances but the milk float gti6 was a V plate one, guessing it is this as it rings a bell. it was written off in 2005/2006 i think. 'roland rat' was driving it over a humpback bridge when a milk float had stopped on the other side (not visible to him when driving)

he hit it fairly hard, folding the front of the gti6 in but as far as i know it was repaired pretty well. i do remember him saying they actually left part of the metal fragements of the milkfloat trapped in the front of the gti6 because they were too hard to remove but i personally didn't see photos of it so not sure. i nearly bought it, didn't look too bad. bit of rust under the rear which made me think it'd had a shunt at the back at some point but i was only buying it for the engine and scrapping the rest

there's also another blaze gti6 funnily enough knocking around which people refer to as the 'milk float gti6' but this one simply had a side impact and the lad who owned it worked on a dairy farm. he repaired it using a metal plate welding it into the side section (off the flat bed from the back of a milk float). not an ideal fix but hey it worked by the looks of it

    Hmm that looks familiar.... LOL

The old ones are always the best LOL

Even I had the wind up when I joined in 2007, that was before a milk float was involved though.

Lol no worries guys all good fun... I was evening telling my mate about it, he'd done the deal for the 306 for me as I've been working away and he got chatting to the owner so I was telling him it didn't look like such a good deal based on what you lot were saying!

Ignore the milk float bullsh1t bud if you bought it as a donor then job done - just check compression and change the cam belt and pump etc

That car was tatty back in 2011 - however I will say this...

It got a mega spanking through the French Alps by Stilly, who at some point actually had the front brakes smoking...Laugh

I must admit it went well, but it needed work back then. Yes

Stilly sorted it though didn't he. It got a new set of oe wishbones arb link and trackrods iirc. The rear Stilly rebuilt when pete owned it. It's wasn't tatty as such either, it had a few little door dents and a few areas of cracked clear coat. The engine was torquey for standard one though.

I look forward to seeing the future build.

I need to get a fuel leak sorted under the bonnet ont he 306 so I can give it a good run and see how it sounds, I've got next week off work to make a proper start on the project but most of that is probably going to be spent on the 205 stripping and repairing the shell, it looks surprisingly solid from what I've seen but I'm sure I'll uncover a few nasties as I get into it.

I remember Stilly toying with the idea of sorting it when we got back to the UK but then he sold it on instead as far as I know - it needed too much work to be put back decent.

It was only a few bodywork issues. Some down to cleaning bird s**t off with what appeared to be a scouring pad...
