Cheers buddy, It'll be a few days yet. Borrowing one off my mate at the mo but got to work out stuff like getting the loom all swapped over and all that jazz. And cleaning all the hundreds of pieces of piston out the inlet manifold. Doh

Joyof joys Cry Bored

You could buff it back with 1200/2500 grit and overcoat with lacquer. Whether you do lacquer or not, definitely overcoat with a clear wax like Bilt Hamber Dynax UC. Makes paint look less glossy, but an excellent protection layer.

2 nuts to either side and then give it a tug if IIRC.

I'll have a little look round, see what's what then.

Don't even know where this came from LOL

Took the throttle body off and had a peek in

So, shaking the manifold with a load of cleaner in it gave me this the first two times

More came out. Compressor tomorrow!

Well jetwashing the inside of the intake manifold has certainly made it nice.
I think I've cleaned it enough but I'll have one more check before it all goes back on.

Spent bloody aaaages working out which bits go back in their place round the back of the bay. My pictures seem to cover everything except the bits I needed lol.

Anyone who's taken their engine out, do you have a pic of the passenger side of the bay before all the clips were removed? pleeeaasse.

Got the loom on the new engine now which is nice and just a small pile of new parts which is slowly growing Smile

Doing the timing belt very soon is causing me some worry though Unsure

You can also get Bilt Hamber from the online shop at https://www.bilthamber.com (sorry forgot how to do URL).

Prices are IMO often a little bit better than Opie for B-H products, and deliveries have always been prompt and spot on.

Spent most of today looking for a tool or bolt I had just put down. Not a happy chappy.

Still...
This all had to be cleaned up. Was pretty nasty as you can see.

Even this was full of sh1te

All cleaned up

and brake unit re-blacked. was a bit scummy before.

Hopefully my flywheel, steering rack and cambelt kit arrive tomorrow.
I expect the flywheel and steering will arrive when I nip out to pick up the cambelt kit though Roll eyes

And it turned out the throttle body gasket was all flakey and horrible.
Golden Grahams to the rescue!

I did the holes perfectly! well chuffed after my previous attempts on my Hilux.

Well after much palava the flywheel is on Smile

Now looking at covering the ram on the steering rack. Read about a mountain bike inner tube (no problem for me there!) and a builder's black sack.
Anyone done either of these successfully?
I'll be putting an inner tube on tomorrow other wise.

Just need to get some bloody M8 bolts now. Probably the slowest flywheel/clutch change over in human history Doh

Well, many things in life have caused me some pain lately.

Best get some updates done. Thumbs up
Here's Pug_306's parcel, jolly nice too. You should get parts from him, he's good.

Old steering rack

No surprise that I'm missing the pic of the new one in and sat nicely.

Time for head gasket
Old all scummy

Had the hoover and stanley blade rount it together - quite a difference which i'm sure can't be a bad thing.

All cleaned up

Head gasket on

Head - Got the same hoover & blade treatment

Then came the tightening fiasco

Thank you Niall for the gauge, had the bolts out for a good clean one I'd done the first attempt. Roll eyes

Lovely new water pump in

Then I had my differences in tensioners to confuse me.

Turns out I'd managed to overlook the stud they sit on which was still on the old block. Roll eyes

Took me and my uncle bloody hours to be happy

Still, I'm finally happy Big grin

Clutch all on now

After this LOL

The joys of aftermarket stuff!

The ABS bracket (not very clear here) was a mess. That's come off now, shiny pics tomorrow.

Shame I don't have a before pic of the air box, this is one part which I am really proud of. It was absolutely disgusting.

Loom all changed over happily, more bits than you realise isn't there!
More soon!

Gearbox update:
When I took it apart to look if it was OK, I obliterated the bearing on the input shaft.
I gave it to someone to put the bearing on for me and he's now found he needs to take 5th and 6th out, put the shaft in and re-build it. Nightf**kingmare! Do the gears split off their shafts or is it game over?
