Following up from that, do you need the canister? I'm thinking about the race car here so probably a bit different to a road car. There are a few threads that suggest it's possible to remove it but someone might have more info?________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

If the canister was broken or the solenoid faulty what would be the symptoms?Just trying to understand if my issues are due to a knackered purge system? TT |

welshpug! wrote: what are your issues? From my other thread...... quote: So, after getting the Rallye back to roadworthy condition I have.a very curious problem.... I will be driving around and the car will suddenly lose all engine power over a couple of seconds then die. No matter what you do with the throttle, the revs will drop until stall. The radio and dash electrics function fine so its not as if theres a mains power issue. If I dip the clutch and move key to 'off' and then back round to 'start' the car will fire immediately!! Now I've replaced MAP, CAS, TPS and Fuel pump relay with (seemingly good) used units and CTS and Lambda with brand new items. It has had a recent fuel filter. I thought it may be a fuel pump issue but the fact that the car fires first time on restart without need for lines to prime made me discount that. There seems to be no discernable pattern to the cutting out. Worth noting is that the car is quite 'binary' on transition throttle. By that I mean that when the throttle is set to a cruise setting, any lift of the pedal results in marked engine deceleration. TT |

You could parallel a w5w bulb with the purge solenoid and see that if the the car cuts out when then bulb lights up. On my 2.0 16v wagon my canister makes huge amounts of vacuum noise that I can hear it from inside doors closed windows up. The purge cycle is quite common and will stop when you turning and off. |

For info, the majority who put the '6 engine in a 205 don't fit the canister or valve, without any negativ effects - so I'd be tempted to unplug it and see if it makes any difference.________________________________________ |

quite unlikely to be anything caused by the EVAP purge solenoid, sounds like shot TPS and/or wiring.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
