Specs are:
M10x1.5
80mm length
35mm top threaded
Remainder as a larger (M12) shoulder
Is that doable?

M12 bolt turned down and re threaded? Found this place that could help, but your batch size is going make it pricey no doubt http://www.nationalbolt.com/custom-bolts-fasteners.html ________________________________________ |

Don't think I want a sleeve nut? Dan's right in that it's essentially an M12x1.5 bolt with the threaded part turned down to an M10x1.5.The mount uses a threaded M10x1.5 bolt at the moment but the hole it goes through is much bigger which I don't like, there's too much room for movement. I thought if I can get a bolt with a shoulder that's bigger that the thread, it should create a nice fit. ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

What about the steel tube that's used to mount the steering rack to the subframe? That's M10 I think. ________________________________________ |

Saves me taking the rack of the car for no real reason. Not much left on it anyway! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

welshpug! wrote: ohhhhh, do they not have a stud like a proper engine mount? Not really, I'll try and describe it as I can't find an exploded picture of one online. The mount is in two pieces. The bottom piece is essentially a case for the top part with a bolt through it that goes down in to the chassis. The top piece has a central bolt that goes through several bits of rubber and comes out of the top for the bridge to the engine to bolt down on to. The top-ward bolt sheared during the last race and I've replaced it with an identical one but would like to get a stronger one in. Just to be sure, there's no fault with the Vibratechnics mount that caused it to shear. My chassis point was pretty badly damaged before going and the mount was moving around a lot. I think with the amount of movement it put undue stress on the bolt and it sheared. I should also point out I'm not running the race mount, just fast road, as it's what came on my spare car and I hadn't thought about it until now! Vibratechnics have been great and helping me figure out what happened! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Mail me a sketch if you want one making up dan. Sounds like the easiest/cheapest way would be to get/make a bit of thin wall tube to sleeve an m10 bolt up to size.________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |
