Yes but all the air goes right to the top of the system, I only ever have to bleed the one radiator and that's the one on the 3rd floor in the loft conversion, why wouldn't the same principle apply to the oil and all the air from the oil system go as high as it can which would end up in the crank case? ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

When you first filled your system you would of bled each radiator at a time to get the air out of it, once the system is primed you shouldn't have a problem! Google it! Just don't see why he has mounted it like that when there is no reason it can't get mounted with the unions at the top! It also stops the oil cooler back filling to the sump when the engine is off! Just my 2 pence worth |

so if the unions are at the top when you do a oil change. you will have to rake the bumper off to phisically drain the cooler.________________________________________ |

And remove the cooler and tip it up, I'd just leave it the way it is, mines the same with no issues, can't see it backfilling to the sump, it has to go uphill anyway either way it's fitted ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

to be fair when "most people" do an oil change they will leave the 0.5L of oil in the cooler, but yes you are correct to do it properly you will have to take the bumper off!It doesn't bother me if he keeps it the way it is or changes it but when you first fill the system you will want the cooler the right way up! I would like to think I know a thing or two but hey ho lol Like I said google it and you will see the majority of technically minded people will say to have the unions at the top |

Well to be honest I don't drain my cooler when I do a oil change so it may aswell be facing the other way, the fittings don't leak and I don't want to disturb them.I don't know what happened when my boiler system got filled, my mate fitted the boiler while I was at work, he's an idle c**t so Id be surprised if he went around them all unless he had to lol. Not saying you don't have to as I really have no idea, all I know is I have only ever had to bleed one and that's the one highest up on the 3rd floor. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

Will Take it on board :-) will see if I have any problemsHad quick look on mocal website it says '' Oil coolers may be mounted anyway up and are self bleeding, the resistance to oil flow through the matrix means that tanks will fill up evenly pushing out the air before the oil flows through.'' |

Where is the charger oil cooler located? On mine I have both fog lights removed and a oil cooler in place where each fog light was. Personally if I was going to the hassle of spinnin it around I would try and place it somewhere else to allow more air to get to the rad and intercooler. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

My oil cooler is mounted with inlets and outlets down, below the level of the oil filter and it doesn't seem to drain off. Still takes the same amount of oil to fill at service as before the cooler was fitted________________________________________ China D Turbo HDi daily chargerBlack Rallye occassional toy |

Mine used to be upside down which is fine as long as its the right way up when first filling (that's what I was told and had read on the internet) after reading that on mocals site it appears I was mis informed but if you google it loads of people say it will get air locks etc! If you have the room and hose length why have it upside down which was my question to begin with! |

You would have to take the bumper off anyway to undo the pipes? |
