I have a devil decat for use on track, however it does not have a lambda sensor fitted. Just a hole.

I know what a pain these can be to get off of an exhaust, and wondering weather I actually need one. I'm vaguely aware of what purpose they serve but dont ever have to deal with them much. And after all it will only be for a few track sessions. MPG isn't important, and If its not going to make a massive difference I wont bother to go buy one.

I assume by not using one my car would just run lean? No real problems? (providing I plugged the hole)

Cheers,

Pebbles. Thumbs up

Is this on your Rallye?

If so, what happened to the original lambda sensor? Without one fitted, the ECU will run in factory mode and will run richer than desired, thus fuelling too much and causing bore wash in some circumstances.

Its on jimmy's old Rallye. The original lambda is still currently fitted to the cat, and in fine working order. The decat supplied came without a sensor. I have removed (or tried to remove) lambda's before and they dont always play ball and end up damaged.

If the over fuelling could potentially cause issues then I'll get one sorted.

Cheers Stan the man Smile

If this is Jim n Dave's Rallye it will of been swapped from cat to decat for mot time so I reckon you'll have no problem swapping it over, mine has been swapped several times over the years and has been ok to get off each time.....

Correct. I believe we used to put a bit of copper slip on with the thought it might help corrosion resistance but it may not have helped at all LOL

The decat hadn't been on there for at least 2 years though so maybe heating up the cat first and using a big pair of grips.
