Thanks!

Does anyone within striking distance of either Oxford or Warwickshire/somewhere between the two run a magnex system or similar that they wouldn't mind me popping over and having a quick listen to? Preferably on a gti-6/rallye/xsara vts. Thanks! I had a 4" Magnex on a '6 when I was a hooligan teenager. A few years later I bought a '6 with a 4" Magnex. Just sitting in the car on idle did my nut in to be honest. Buy a 3" ________________________________________ |

I've got a 3" magnex, if i go and start it up now you'll probably be able to hear it from where you are. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

I've got a 3" Magnex on my GTi 6. Was fun to start with, but it's a pain in the arse now. Draws attention everywhere you go and is really boomy on the motorway.I'd find something quieter ________________________________________ '98 Nile Blue 306 GTi 6 |

As above, i found magnex to give best at high revs compared to many others i tried but they are just too boomy plus you get that horrible howl noise when engine comes on cam, drowns out that lively induction bark too! |

Fair enough, been offered to go and have a listen to a scorpion catback. Is there an exhaust that has the mythical properties of a sporty tone without motorway boom and drowning out induction? ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Blueflame was best i ever had, 2.5" pipework, VERY quiet with a sporty tone when your giving it some, even with decat. |

Even mine scorpion and decat was way quieter than a cat back magnex.Aren't magnex 2.5 and scorpion 2.25? ________________________________________ Rallye build: 11 November 1998 - a WednesdayTeam rallye, built for track ----Click this if you like rallyes Rallye dead Secret Team Astor... |

Not fancy a custom built system? A guy near me builds Powerflow systems and he really is very good at what he does. Mine has been on nearly 4 years with no drama and has a very nice sound. I told him the sound I wanted and he produced what i asked for. Also you'd barely notice my car had an exhaust system when I'm just pottering about, but when the taps are opened it's certainly loud enough. And it loves to flame!!!! ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |

Scorpion is indeed 2.25. I think scorpion gives best torque where magnex and blueflame aid top end power. Thats what i found anyway. I'm currently running a powerflow with 2.5" decat, perfect noise although ive blown the baffles in the centre box, resonates badly now. |

Another vote for a scorpion. Had decat with 2.25" straight through middle section with scorpion back box. Best sounding exhaust I have had and was good on motorways in my fully stripped 6 too. Wouldnt mind another one if I could get a swap for my magnex________________________________________ Clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

I have a Jetex on mine, its a bit louder than standard but only just, I've just done 1500 miles of motorway driving and didn't notice it. Sounds well when you give it the beans too ________________________________________ Almost standard 1999 Bianca RallyeHilux InvincibleX daily 306 No.13 Carp and specialist Anglers Click here |

Thanks everyone.I can't afford to buy new, so a full custom system, while great, is out of buget for sure, so am looking at systems that commonly come up for sale second hand. With regards to powerflow, I've had a powerflow backbox on a std. centre section and it was loud, boomy and drony without much of a sporty tone at all. Hated it. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |
