Yes

You do, but Wayne still mapped my DTA S60 Pro for me. Smile

Hi All

Not the best result engine is running great and new rear rad set up works great but we are only getting 18 psi boost at 6800 rpm giving us 300 bhp at the wheels so something is not right although i only have a 6 rib belt on a I am struggling to get a 8 rib due to the dry sump set up so it could be belt slippage at high boost but we are Also get extremely hot manifold bright red and the same with the exhaust so we are thinking we are getting a restriction there ?

What manifolds are being used on the other High boost conversion and what size exhaust I have a 2.5 inch fitted?

Also need to check the can timing and make sure we have no boost leaks around the injectors as I thought I would have 22-25 psi boost

Looking to build a new 4 " exhaust tomorrow but unsure about the manifold ??

Any thoughts ??

Normal for the manifold maybe. I remember seeing a few pictures of RichW's car on the rollers when around 400bhp and the manifold was glowing purple/red.

Although thinking about it, think that was when he was running about 500bhp LOL

Hopefully Stan or another high boost owner can confirm.

Bit of an update

I checked the cam timing and the exhaust cam was 1/2 hole out so have reset it and then set about with a spray of soapy water trying to find any leaks

Found the dump valve to be leaking when boost came on so removed it as was not too keen on this any way and never ran one with the C30

Checked round the injectors to the manifold and it was passing round here on all of them so new seals and a dab of silicone as well just to make sure as they are not that tight fit to the manifold.

Just thinking about why the exhaust is getting so hot and i think it may be they way the Omex was set up originally as they have the fuel of the tps and the ign off the boost which on a turbo car you would run both the fuel and ign of the bosst to ensure correct fueling so this could be why the fuel is getting pushed in via the TPS position but there is little boost for it to need it ?

Anyone else running an stand alone ecu that can advise or comment?

I have e-mailed Omex for there comment so will update once i hear from them.

Is your throttle body on the inlet or charger?

Marty, you need the dump valve on the super high boost as the throttle body is in a different location and the pipe work is setup is the same way as a turbo which is why you need it. Yes

You have other issues there than just an exhaust issue. My manifold didn't glow on the rollers being mapped, and mine made over 450bhp easily. It was done by lunchtime, with just a few tweaks from Rich's map.
350bhp at the flywheel on this setup is very wrong, you're like 100bhp down on what you should be. Crazy

Remember for a SHB engine, the pistons should be changed to make 8:1 CR instead of the HB's 9:1. Yes

I assume you've done this during the engine build Marty?

Also, out of interest, why did you choose to go with Omex as opposed to the tried and tested DTA setup?

Hi Stan

Cr is 8.1 and went with Omex cause it's what I had on my old car

After speaking with Omex I think we might have a solution that has been overlooked on the mapping as I questioned the TPS controlling the fuelling but there is also a fuel boost correction map hidden on the system that might not have been changed on the rolling road set up but I am waiting to speak to the guy at the rolling road.

I have tried to contact Wayne to set up my car but have got no Responce via email from him yet as I am working in the USA this week but will try calling him tomorrow have you a mobile number for him ?

Marty

07874 328306 as far as I know though I've never spoken to him yet he's a very busy man apparently lol

And I'd be expecting to make min of 350 at the fly with a c30 setup so you have a serious issue somewhere. If the manifold Is that hot without a turbo then you may be running to lean which is really not good! Boost leaks an timing sorted should help a lot though. Would have thought you'd have heard te belt slipping if that was the case?

Rich W also recently made a 6 rib setup for the C38 so it must be possible to use that rather than 8.
