Rich has done that before and removed it so you might want to ask him why

I know that Binoniz I think his user name was. Robin was his name had water meth on his c30-94 and think he mapped it up to 467 I think. Remember when Stan had his mapped Robin commented was a funny thread at the time. Robin took it off in the end think more because of the inconvenience of having to keep filling up the water meth system.

Maybe he ran it when he made 540bhp odd. from memory i dnt think he did have it running at that point, though I have been wrong in the past. I'll ask Nick I'm down at Lynx next week

I like you're idea of Nos though Ollie. Though I don't think the track Marshall's would find it quite so funny during scrutineering!

Aimt gotnte to sketch today I'll do it tomorrow.

Pete armz, when you go high boost fancy your car being experimented on with my design of air box. When/after mapping test it with the box and without the box? If so, next time I see your 6 I'll get some measurements. Smile

I think rich had it when he had the high boost set up not super high boost, evos have water cooling jets on the intercooler as standard, don't think it would be much of a problem with track days just have it on s switch, would need an air temp sensor too to know when you need to use it

Evo spraying some water on the front of the intercooler is somewhat different to water injection though... But it does work. I'll be rigging something like that up when I get my larger cooler put on. Make use of the rear washer output from the motor with a couple of spare xsara mist jets pointing at the cooler.

I've also heard Thad water meth is very good at cleaning the insides of the engine.

I wasn't saying it was the same as water meth injection!! I was saying it's similar to nitros jets on the cooler so I doubt Ross would have any problems in a track day
I would imagine methanol is good at cleaning lol

I remember Robin running it - he managed 450bhp on a high boost. The HG failed within a very short space of time though unfortunately. Sad

Yes mate the heat soak on mine is terrible it makes the car so much slower than it should be I've never had a car where it's as bad..... Hopefully the stupidly massive intercooler I have should help a lot but we can make me a shiny stainless closed airbox which scoops it in similarly to the current design Thumbs up

From what Ross told me the other day the airfilters are not spec'd up for the power we run!
The one on the super high boosts are bigger than the hb ones and are rated for 260hp saying that it must be able to supply enough air or it would have been running rich on the dyno?!?

Mine gives a perfect AFR on my gauge all the way through the rev range, in fact it goes fine all the way through as well, so there can't be much wrong with it's location or size.

Air fuel ratio and flow rate isn't the issue fir me it's the heat soak. It deff gets plenty of air.... Just not cold air lol. On a warm day it's slow as fuuuuuuck

I'm not saying it doesn't work well it's just on researching it seems that a bigger air filter would be an option on top of that I will say I've known the guys at Lynx for many years and have never been disappointed with any work Also I know how much work they have put into the conversions and have been nothing short of astonished with the level of service I've received. I suppose I just think there's always room for improvement with everything but I'm not an engineer and I'm not a great mechanic but I'm prepared to try different options and I'm just dealing with what little info I can find online it appears a bigger air filter would be better.

I'm sure air scoop like on this s16 will allow better air flow to filter and be cooler reducing heat soak?

I don't think there's a problem with airflow or need for a scoop to be honest, I've got a badge less grille and once your moving the shape of it forces air towards the filter nicely. Only problem is an open filter in the middle of a stinking hot engine bay behind the radiator.... On a track car it shouldn't matter but once you stop the heat soak is terrible

But if its been custom mapped wouldn't you expect it to be?

There will only be enough fuel injected to suit the mass of air, so if the size/location of the filter is a restriction then there could still be improvements made, no?
