I'd get a bit more pushy but the problem is they're offering me one at a very competitive price and so I can't go anywhere else. I've emailed rotrex direct to ask about the delay as TTS arevsaying they're just not getting the stock from rotrex. Will still be trying for further discount. |

Quite a few Honda owners have had rotrex failures with less than 20,000 miles. Might be worth having a look on the forums. Some are running an additional reservoir and larger cooler. Ive heard it could be due to the bearings being too small? |

Rotrex say there have been some new updates to the units too. Might try and get more details on what's changed. I'm installing a temperature gauge with the new one! |

From a guy at Rotrex:"Normally we don’t inform about modifications since its part of our IP, but most of the improvement’s is due to more accurate parts in the gear. Luckily most failures is due to wrong installation and overload. We have OE customers that tell us we have been chosen because of better reliability. Thanks for your positive backup" |

I've done many miles with both the C30 and C38 charger units, in fact my old C30 charger is currently housed on a rally cross car and gets a very hard life and is running happily as far as I know. My c30/94 destroyed the impeller and snapped the shaft when it sucked part of the air filter off. My c38/81 snapped the shaft. Both were overspun. I had a shaft made for the c38/81 and rebuilt it myself before using it briefly to test it and then sidelining it as a spare and buying a new c38/91 as I was leading the QMN championship and couldn't afford the points loss if it broke again. I've never overspun the c38/91 and never will. I'm sure this is the secret to them lasting. I'd be interested in any broken ones that still have an undamaged Impeller. |

well, 3 months after ordering from TTS my new 'charger arrived. I fitted it this weekend and generally the swap was a piece of cake (apart from getting at the oil cooler). I ended up swapping the shells over because of the adapters welded on and then it was just a case of mounting the new oil cooler etc and I was ready. Unfortunately it came to starting it and it turned over, coughed for a second and then nothing. It would crank but wouldn't fire so I left it and had a cuppa.Josh from the 205GtiDrivers forum came over to pick up an old exhaust and upon explaining what was happening he pointed to the little red reset button near the ECU. We pressed that and she fired straight into life! No whining from the charger, just a nice quiet whistle at idle. Being used to working on 205's I wasn't aware of the crash protection on the fuel pump. Interestingly I had measured 12v at the fuel pump before Josh hit the button so I've no idea how the protection circuit works. Next job, fix the Air Bag light for the MOT and replace the snapped spring (I think that's the problem, makes some horrible grinding / crunching noises when turning!) So good to have it running again! Once the MOT is done I'll hopefully get it booked in with Wayne for a remap. |
