it is nearly that time of year where we are plunged into darkness and cold for 5 months.
I am going to get 2 winter tyres for the front of my 6.
Any recommendations?

I was using Goodyear Ultragrip 7+ last year and was very impressed. They've been replaced now with the 8 or probably a 9 now so they're pretty cheap. Won't the handling be a bit twitchy with winters on the front only?

cheers guys.
Matt_w - I live in north Wales and it always seems to be 4-5 degrees colder up here. My logic is that with just the front ones I will be able to get the car moving in the snow instead of having no traction. I won't be thrashing it in s**tty weather

I had s**t ones called sunny on mine last year. Tbh in the snow, very impressive. Every other condition, not so good.
I got khumo winters for the front and sunnys on the back of my spare wheels. Hopefully it will be better still. Smile

Vredestein tyres are generally all pretty good, you cant go much wrong with those. I have all season qutrac 3's on the Mrs's car. As frankly i cant be bothered to mess around these days changing them.

I had Continental 830s on my GTi and couldn't get stuck, amazing!

Then I bought some InsaTurbo remoulds and they weren't quite as good on the icy stuff, but still amazing, couldn't get stuck.

Then I bought some BFGoodrich and thought they were s**t. Lost traction earlier and didn't give as much confidence in the dry conditions.

Dry performance was great from the Conti's but still really great from remoulds.

This year I'll put the BF's on the back of the Rallye and some remoulds on front.
The 205 will have some MaxSport Grasstrack tyres all round (even though just the fronts would do)

I bought challenger ones off eBay.

Absolutely fantastic, and you've seen how steep hills are by me.

I got a pair in 195 50 15 for about £70, and put them on steels

That's my plan for the 205 this year.

Good fun as in they're all over the place... or good fun that you can slide around all day and still have the grip to brake/steer effectively?
