Cheers gents. Little update: Bit disappointed with the car at the moment to be honest. Spent all of yesterday with the mechanical genius that is Pete Armz fixing things on the car we didn't know we're broken. Cambelt tension is not good so I need to replace the lot, on rev up and rev down the belt is a bit flappy. Over the top of the cams there is around 15-20mm of movement. Airbag system has been somewhat "neglected", ie the seats were not wired in, the light had been removed from the dashboard and no resister was in to trick the passenger airbag. This in my mind is downright dangerous as in event of an accident there would be no airbag activation. Car needs a new right hand driveshaft. Which to be honest I'm not fussed about and knew this from the test drive. On the plus note other than that it seems very very good underneath. Just a shame about the other bits on the car. However I will be spending the extra and getting everything fixed ASAP with gen parts bar the drive shaft. Does anyone know the correct resistor I need to trice the glovebox airbag? http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=45240 You could plug them back in? Often they are still working but the plugs or wiring have come loose, so a new bulb and reattaching everything might sort it and would actually give you airbags in the event of a crash. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Bit of a mess under the seats I would say butchered rater than "neglected" but at least got the airbag fault codes down from 6-2 known ones which are both easy fixes Mechanical genius ehh? Lol I just do things properly Mate . Other than the driveshaft and the cam belt tension the cars in very good shape. Always a few niggles with any car you buy. I'm still trying to get the derv estate how I want it and I've had it months now. Stupid things like other people slapping the wrong wheel nuts on it, door cards falling off, bolts loose on seat base mechanisms, air bag light removed (same as yours. Getting there though. I did pay f**k all for it considering the silly low mileage lol. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Often they are still working but the plugs or wiring have come loose, so a new bulb and reattaching everything might sort it and would actually give you airbags in the event of a crash. Every wire had been cut off either side of the plugs and not joined back together. Then stuffed down under the carpet and cable tied up. Someone clearly didn't want their airbags working where as Matt's mrs will drive the 6 daily so he wants them in good shape. Had to figure out which wires joined to which by educated guesswork as the wires either side of the plugs are different colours. All good now though. And the passengers airbag has been removed in favour of a top glove box from a rallye / phase 1 hence the need for a fused resistor. Not a bad FAQ that but I'd be hard soldering the connections not using bullet terminals and the "rotary switch" is called a clock-spring lol. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Shame to hear about the few problems but atleast they are easily fixable, the airbag needs a 1.8ohm resistor |

Worthy purchase though Matt's old Astor, possibly the tidiest in the UK? Love the handling of the E90! Lovely car to drive much better than a '6 IMHO! Only thing I really like more about the '6 is the noise...Welcome back Matt any pics of the car? ________________________________________ I Live for the 306TEAM CHERRY PINK RALLYE 2008 BMW ///M 320d |

Sorry to here about all the trouble you are having with it Matt, if I had known any of these faults obliviously I would have said something to you. I never even took the seat out so had no idea about the wires.I wonder who did bodge them, not good at all. ________________________________________ TEAM Supercharged Rallye |

It is only natural for older cars to get a bit neglected from time to time (not in all cases i know). Although the airbag problem seems like a serious issue, it sounds like most of it is easy fixes. Given the condition of your's Matt, i dread to think of what other deathtraps people may be driving around in! ________________________________________ DIABLO GTI-6 - Legend - NILE GTI-6 - SoldCHERRY GTI-6 P1 SUPERCHARGED - Broken up BLACK RALLYE - Sold 205 Dturbo xud9 work horse - Dead CHERRY RALLYE - new toy |

Tbh it is difficult if used daily to keep them 100%. I try but it does get expensive. Although, cheaper in the long run I expect. Mine covers 15-20k each year which does require a bit of maintenance to keep it tip top but its only a case of staying on top of it. Although its probably starting to annoy pete armz. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Trouble with new cars is the initial outlay. It would take forever to pay for itself in the on road savings scheme of things and tbh, all new cars are bland.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

I gotta say im with you on that. But some people dont buy a newer car to save money in the long run, they like the reasurance that a newer car will offer reliability, comfort and peace of mind. For something a bit different and a pleasure to drive, it could be quite expensive..... ________________________________________ DIABLO GTI-6 - Legend - NILE GTI-6 - SoldCHERRY GTI-6 P1 SUPERCHARGED - Broken up BLACK RALLYE - Sold 205 Dturbo xud9 work horse - Dead CHERRY RALLYE - new toy |
