The change in resistance from 'normal' automotive wire to audio grade 'oxygen free' copper wire is in the order of hundredths of a percent. The cable grade wasn't the issue, the gauge or the connections were.

Whats the deal with relocating the battery anyway? I would of thought that in a front driven car, its better to have the weight of the battery at the front, over the driven wheels?

That is true, if you want maximum traction. But in the twisties, its all about an even weight distribution. It may not seem a lot but taking the weight from the front and putting it in the back could balance it 40kg's better.

It's more important that it's down low and in the middle of the wheelbase, which is why I keep telling people to stop putting them in the boot and put them on the floor behind the passenger, shifting it to the bott high up is just as bad as where it was to start with.

What you have to remember is the battery above the gearbox has its use. When driving with one person in the car all the weight is on the drivers side so without the battery above the gearbox that side will give you unbalanced weight on the front. Plus the main drive side in the gearbox without an LSD is on the gearbox battery side.

Passenger floor isn't very practical if the car is to have any passengers and would have to have the breather pipe located out of the car. Not forgetting these pugs are too light at the back and a little weight at the back does help with traction.

There is a reason why BMW has a 50 - 50 weight distribution.
