Right where to start...
Once I got back from afghan i went to pick RIch's beast up from my mates, as soon as i started it I noticed a fuel leak coming from the fuel hose that goes from the high pressure pump to the original filter, I replaced the fuel line that was perished and that sorted that problem.
After driving it for about a week she started giving me s**t....

On cold start she idels at 1500 rpm and shows half s bar boost on tick over... Once warm she ran alright!
As it has an air/fuel ratio gauge I was always keeping an eye out on that, on tick over it showed 13 on the gauge which is normal?
Now the bloody thing shows 15 on tick over which is clearly running lean?
At cruising speed at 2k rpm the gauge is constantly in the red... Not right!!
As I have a spare labda sensor I went to change it thinking that it would have 2, the original one and the one for the afr gauge but that is not the case it just has the one which is the afr gauge so i can't swap it for the spare one as it's different Sad

It's booked in with lynx next week but as the high boost is off the road as iv sold it and my bmw is in for mot I am car'less and don't really want to carry on driving the super high boost as it's running so lean....

Anyone got any ideas what is wrong with her.....

Its totally different to a normal high boost set up do I don't know where to start Sad

If the old hose had perished is there a blockage in the filter at all?

I did think about that but it ran alright for around 1000 miles before it started to play up.

Can run you down anther aem lambda if you're desperate for it mate. As Phil says I'd try changing the fuel filter and maybe give the air filter a nice clean?
Is it much worse than when I was down?

Maybe the pump isn't pushing enough fuel through might be worth checking the wiring to it especially the earth?

Na don't worry about it dude it's going into lynx next week, yep it's got a lot worse since I took u out, I'm not going to use the car at all now so I'll change the fuel filter abd clean the airfilter but I'm thinking maybe it's the map sensor???
I just can't work out why it's running 0.5 bar boost on tick overeven if it's ticking over at 1500 rpm

Was going to fit my brand new 044 pump to see if that makes a difference, problem is I just don't have the time atm so probably won't get round to doing anything before it goes to lynx

yep at 1500 should still be seeing no boost i would of said. I think it's likley to be a sensor mate.

15 on the AFR isn't lean its pretty bang on mate 14.7 is perfect "Stoichiometric" AFR for 1.00 lambda reading and complete combustion. Should read about 15 on idle and cruising. I can't see that its the lambda of the wide band AFR gauge one is used for the ecu and as its reading 0.5bar of positive boost at 1500rpm then the boost / map sensor is more than likely at fault.

Be interested to see what they find wrong

Yep thats what I was thinking too but not 100% sure on the afr as like I said it's always in the red and only in the green/yellow when I lift of to change gear no matter if I'm ragging it or driving like a grandad!
Don't think I want to risk driving it tho Sad

Sounds like an air leak to me, I've had this before on mine years ago. Yes

The reving up / lean afr readings would indeed indiate an air leak as Stan says so worth looking for however at 1500rpm the engine should be probably at a guess more like half a bar of vacuum not boost. I would also say its literally impossible for anything other than the turbo from a lorry engine to make 0.5bar of boost at 1500rpm lol

Edit: first thing id be checking is the vac pipe running from the inlet manifold to the boost sensor. If this is split of come off will lead to air leak and high tickover or it could be blocked up with s**te causing a false reading. Had both these faults on turbo cars many times over the years

Iv done a video that I will upload however as it's not a cold start like it would when I drive it for the first time it's not showing the 0.5 bar boost on tick over....

It used to sit around 13.5 on tickover so was in the green so surely that's what it should be??
I can't film and drive at the same time or I would show what it's doing then!
If it had a boost leak would it not be running rich and not lean??

Right I don't know if iv fixed it or not as I'm not sure what the afr gauge should do on/off load, just took it for a drive and the afr just sits at 14.7 no matter if I'm poodling along or booting it!
Before it fluctuated from 11 when I let off upto 16 when booting it but now it's not moving at all lol

yup would run rich when under load but lean on idle. hopefully somethng simple like a sensor gone just check all the sensor connections and vacuume and boost pipes. All you can do without pluging it in tbh.

Definitely AFR issues. Yes

Mine sits in between 14 and 15 at all times, 13.5 when idling cold or hard acceleration once warm.

I vote air leak for sure. Yes

Still don't have the beast back, they have spent a few hours on it and have been told that it's s lambda issue, apparently it's not speakIng to the ecu so a wiring issue somewhere Sad
They have put the ecu into safe mode so no damage can be done, should get it back tomorrow but will more than likely need to go back Sad
Wish I had just kept the high boost now, not even sure how much this little issue is going to cost me but it's an expense I could do with out atm!
