Hugovox can you find out how much pressure it took to fit 3rd&4th onto the shaft as miles (pug racing) has got up to 4 and a half ton of pressure and it doesn't seem to be moving....

Does anyone have ash's number as I seem to have lost it Sad

Almost 8 months with that kit and no issues. Only thing I have to learn how to downshift at low speeds, very tricky!

Just use the clutch....

Just because you can change a couple of gears without it, doesn't mean you HAVE to every single time. Better to be safe than risk knocking a tooth off of its not necessary.

Iv watched a few videos and it seems safer for the gears not to use the clutch as they self align as soon as you take the load of the engine?

If your doing low speed driving then you are very unlikely to be able to rev match gear changes quickly enough for it to make any difference.

A friend of mine has a dog box in his maxi and he changes down with the clutch. I have a dog box in my car also and mostly change with the clutch on down shifts. My box is still immaculate inside. So haven't seen any issues from it.

My friend also has had no issues with the teeth on his gears in the time he has had his box, and that is older than mine, and done a lot more work.

So purely for ease of driving it, id say use the clutch when necessary. Its only 2 gears anyway.

its only the dog rings that would wear under normal use, the teeth are in constant mesh and spinning all the time.

Hi mate, when racing the '6, I don't. I have a video but I have awful computer skills, next week I'll have 3 days off, I promise I'll try to put the video in YouTube.

Thing is mate when I'm racing the car and it has speed sometimes I let the Rpms to slow down too much in 5-4 gear, then I try to downshift speeding up the rpms then removing the load from the engine but I can match the gears without having a grinding noise. I dont recall if using the clutch the situation improves. This Wednesday I'll take the car out for a blast and I'll tell you guys.
