I know, and again i say i dont mind paying. I used to pay the £20 for scooby.net and that was a s**t forum. No one knew anything. You'd ask a technical question and they would mostly say, I had this and it cost this much to fix in this garage. Useless shower of s**te. But there was a steep decline in numbers after the fee was bought in here yhats all im saying. I dont care 1 way or the other. Its only a 5er. I was only saying what I see.

I totally get your point Aaron, but I think it's partly coincidental that numbers have dropped.

Some people for example were simply here to break cars and sell the spares, however in recent times prices have fallen through the floor, so there's little point in doing that anymore etc.

The main people here are mainly people who are using the info already here to create projects etc rather than working on the actual model this forum caters for. I think this forum has a few years left in it yet, but eventually it will die I'm sure as less and less of these cars are in existence. Sad

There is still a high demand for engines for 205 conversions etc, but sadly I think this is where the main bulk of this forum now has to cater for as opposed to the once great place it was when the cars were still relatively new and worth a lot of money.

People, including myself have spent thousands over the years when these cars were worth thousands themselves. Now they're only worth a few hundred quid in most cases people are understandably reluctant to spend a lot of money on mods etc, and that's why the forum has gone quieter over time. Plus as I've said previously, people move on (and then strangely come back LOL) so that's adding to departing numbers. Sad

Personally id rather spend money modding a cheaper car like the gti6 than doing a newer much more expensive car.

Me too. Mainly because I hugely dislike new cars. I wanna get my mate to finish his 4.2litre eaton supercharged Opal Manta. Thats the way to do it!

I mean yes its cheaper and easier to just remap modern turbo performance cars but theres more satisfaction doing mechanical mods, and if it all goes wrong you can easily buy another at little cost lol

Not only that, all the new cars I've driven have been big lumbering hunks of plastic with zero character and a huge outlay.

As I've said before, the interest in these cars has dropped to an all-time low. This is partly due to price, but mainly due to people moving on. Yes

Yes, the fact that the forum has a membership fee has probably put a few off, however the vast majority have left because they don't own the car anymore and have naturally moved on to something else. Making it free again won't really help get interest back up in the vehicle I don't think you'll find.

So Stan, when do you think it will be free again?

Whilst I don't really have the time to get into another epic "dying forum" thread, is there literally no chance of a consideration? Because to not do so is quite simply saying "we're going to sit it out and grab the money until it inevitably dies".

I know fewer and fewer people own these cars now, but if it were free then people would still hang around to chat and offer advice, but no-one's going to pay for that. Look at the amount of chat on the likes of Pistonheads, MLR, ScoobyNet etc which has nothing to do with cars whatsoever, it's just people using it to chat.

People using site = advertising hits = profit
No-one using site = no advertising hits = no profit

Just my 2p. Shame to see it being allowed to die so that Ash can buy himself a fancy hairdo every now and again, that's all. I'm not going to cry about it, not sure Ash and I have ever really understood each other.

Remember that the e-Book edition qualifies for VAT, so if you buy it through work you can claim back part of the cost as it's educational material.

I'd be fine with the forum utterly whoring itself out to all and sundry shady advertising companies to recoup the shortfall of free membership. AdBlock FTW.

The text would be aligned differently if that was actually real, but B+ for the thought and effort.

also the font is wrong and should be Times New Roman as per branding guidelines and in Pantone 877.

    Please amend

that looks fine, but the colour does not look like Pantone 877

877 is a metallic, and yours looks like it's a flat colour. Can you adjust to show the metallic?
