What's the verdict on them? The looks are growing on me and part of me wants a newer cxar than the rallye. So how do they compare, common faults etc? ________________________________________ white rallyecherry dead rallye s16 |

Cambelts are a bit more tricky than what you may be used to with the rallye but the tools are commonly available and there are many specialists who know them inside out. Dephaser pulleys can become noisey and often aren't changed with the belt, not really an issue though tbh. They are becoming what the 306 did a few years ago - cheap disposable cars with few faults that can be sorted cheap. Similarly though, people have bought them cheap, not maintained them and shifted them on so there are good and bad ones. An average money one would probably see you right with minimal things requiring attention. If you bought a Rallye over a '6 because you wanted respect, buy a 172 cup ________________________________________ |

Nothing too drastic then. Do they go as well, feel as nice as a pug. As involved but cpmfy. As we all know the 306 os a great all rounder. I got a rallye over a sox with the mind of doing holl climb in production class so the lighter model was preferable. But money and time situation has changed. ________________________________________ white rallyecherry dead rallye s16 |

I personally rate the RenaultSport Clios above the 306s. The values aren't far apart now. They are more economical and go well. They aren't too bad inside. I've a Cup so the interior is a bit pants compared to the half leathers and alcantara of the others. It's not a bad place to sit. The gearstick could do with being over to the left a bit more. My lanky legs lean on it on the motorway. Handling wise they aren't bad. Tired shocks make them handle like s**te. The rear suspension setup is easier on the wallet. ________________________________________ |

My mates got rid of his Rallye and got himself a Ph1 172. Now having worked on it, the clio's a piece of cake compared to a 306Booked onto a Trackday at Donington on the 13th of Oct, so we'll see how it goes then. On the road i'd say its every bit as fast as a 6, interiors typically French but not badly put together and the bits new from Renault make Pug prices look laughable ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ (now gone...)2004 Aegean Blue 206 GTi 180 (also gone...) 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS in Sprint Yellow honestly3k wrote: Do you wrestle for a living matt? The phase 1 172 are lighter for a start. I went for the 182 as it was newer and less miles. ________________________________________ How to do a clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

Front dampers, seats (which p**ses me off you only get a s**t bench seat in the back, not like the 182 split half leather type) wheels, rear spoiler, no head light washers (not sure if they have xenons either) and no climate control. I went for the 'full fat' 182 version as they call them as they come with everything. Love the wheels on them though ________________________________________ How to do a clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

They come apart easier than 306s, about to buy my second 172 to break lol.I think they are the new gti6, and i wouldnt worry about owning a clio as owning a 306 isnt exactcly somthing to shout about lol. If you can afford a throphy id get one, just look for one with a damper rebuild as they are a fortune to replace. Search evo test of it on youtube that guy owns super cars and still bought one. |

Are they a bit more solid than the wafer thin panels on a 306?Definitely a more modern car but the looks are not quite as lovable as a 306, for me anyway. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |
