I would go to Hayward & Scott - not Maniflow.

Having seen systems from both, the former is better quality wise, and they do more work in S/S.

Don't change the exhaust manifold.

Well I now have a full Maniflow system in 3 inch, I've done running in miles so can now open the car up to 7k all I have to say is it's fast! Will update the thread with some pics once I've sorted my bumper out. Hoping to get mapped within the next 4-6 weeks I think it will push 500bhp which would put me somewhere in the region of 525bhp per ton. Next on my list of upgrades is a dry sump and to match my three way rear shocks with matching fronts. Need to ft a roof scoop too as I'm roasting myself in there.

Yep standard but had straight cut third and fourth, decided to do this on the dyno now enjoying the drive of shame back home in an Aa lorry, 500 mile round trip and a wasted day Sad not sure what to do now. Wether to fit a standard gearbox or go for a qualify 5 speed like the pug1off turbo 205. It was making some nice noises though

Really sorry to hear this Ross Thumbs down

I personally think Your going to have to think seriously about a special gearbox Ross ...all that power & torque is going to rip most of the stnd boxes to pieces !!!
Miles said 6 speeds are weak & 5 speeds with 205 internals are much better ?....sadly I think your going to have to have something made extra special or every time you open her up ....bang !!!!

Your cars not driven like Stans he's careful what I've seen .....your going to thrash yours please don't half do the Gearbox or the love of the car will go straight away !!!!

I personally think the GTI6 box will be fine with the uprated gears, I don't think it's the power or torque that has broken it - as Wayne said it happened on coast down, not under load?

6th gear is not renowned for failing, Ash, me, Stan and no other highboost has had 6th gear issues.

Be interesting to look inside and see what's wrong with it...

I expect it's just bad luck mate, keep your chin up Smile

It's funny really 😎 this what modifying a car to this extent is about I now have the problem of what to do I really think that I should get a custom gears made into standard casing as it will mean I can still compete where as with a sequential I can't. Cheers Stephen I also admire you're project too Rich I know I have plenty of bad luck it doesn't put me off box will be off and replaced with a standard one tomorrow

I'm not sure if a complete custom box will solve the issue, it could have been a duff bearing, oil starvation or even the oil was too hot
I can't see it being a power issue, it would be good for someone to have a look at it and find out why it failed for future reference

I'm thinking about dumping my gearbox oil and using royal purple gearbox oil

Really regret not getting my car finished and mapped today but I really can't do with the disappointment atm

Good luck with what ever you choose to do bud

Is it just stuck in 6th but still works? Or has the box seized completely? What box does the pug1off 205 run?

Pug1off 205 runs xsara vts box with a full quaife gearkit, car is being checked out today to find out what the issue issue is, next time I go up to Wayne's I want to get a good result. We'd barely started playing with the mapping hadn't adjusted anything too much really

Definitely the box and not the satchshift being jammed and not letting you come out of gear?

Is the statchshift setup correctly? you didnt try to use a bar to knock the linkages out of gear on the gearbox?

In my opinion sounds like there isnt much up with your gearbox.

Iv had that problem with mine, it's the locknuts on the linkages due to them not being a nyloc or crush but with the amount of vibration we have using more or less solid mounts it causes them to come loose, it has never geometrically locked tho as even with the lock nuts loose the bars can't really turn!
