A D9 v6 in a 306 would be quite a thing. Far better engine than the D8.

The issue with the coupe is the suspension not the engine. The standard dampers are just completely crap and make it feel nose heavy, along with the wheel/tyre combination.A D9 v6 in a 306 would be quite a thing. Far better engine than the D8. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Yeah its a d8, most conversions are done using that engine as it doesn't have the multiplexed wiring like the later d9 so can be wired straight in as a fairly straight forward conversion, the later d9 needs to be run on an aftermarket ecu which would make it a lot more expensive. In standard form the d9 is only ~15bhp and 10lbft more so I wouldn't say that much better at all, they do a little better mpg as they are vvt but who buys a v6'd 306 to worry that much about mpg... The main advantage is the scope for future power gains as there are a lot more parts out there for the later engine but otherwise imo it would be a lot of hassle and expense for not much improvement. ________________________________________ Ryan |

I'll be swapping out my D8 for a D9 in soon. Deleting the VVT and removing all the cats will see decent gains. (also have a quote for a complete exhaust system including manifolds ![]() On the MPG front, I have seen 40mpg on a long run, cruising at 80ish. My V6 is only dragging a skimpy 309 though! ________________________________________ 205 Van SC'd GTI6 - because why not309 Goodwood V6 - sold 205 Rallye GTI6 - Bent |

It's certainly not my video, however maybe my car as the conversion was carried out some 5 years ago, but cover less than 2k miles in the 5 years before I got it! Given the rarity of the conversion and the car it may well be mine.Only other V6 Goodwood I know of is one Miles @ Pugracing carried out a while back, that was a 5dr I believe though. ________________________________________ 205 Van SC'd GTI6 - because why not309 Goodwood V6 - sold 205 Rallye GTI6 - Bent |

The cambelt kits are around £230 then however much on top for labour. There is something to do with using the later setup, It's either cheaper, better or both. I think it was Adam b that told me about it or I read it on the coupe forum. Someone has already said they will have it so car is provisonally sold ________________________________________ Ryan |

An early d9 engine doesn't run multiplex so it mut be fairly easyish to slap in a 306 just need to get hold of y plate coupe with a d9 in but not multiplex ![]() |
