Doesn't look like anyone found this info out on other threads but was wondering if any one does know what spring rate the kw v2's or gaz golds come with as standard?

Gaz come with whatever you ask for, i think kw's are around 285 but not sure how long.

KWs feel like they are around or just under 300. The spring length is written on them in mm - look for a photo.

Thing is iv got both (cant look at the mo as im in a different country) but im unsure what to use on the dimma, iv read a previous thread that said there wasn't much between them, iv just got some 22.5mm torsion bars and was wondering what coilovers would be best matched for the bars?

Just out of curiosity how much are B.A.D coilovers as when I was at nur I noticed he had some for his dimma and they looked the tits, I also asked aurok about ohlins and came back with a 4k quote lol probably worth the cash but not for what im going to use the car for

Can anyone with KW V2's read any code off the main springs?
Mine are too corroded, all i can see is 20-60-80 on the helper springs, which is 20N/mm 60mm ID 80mm long. Would like to get some new springs for mine and want to see what is currently fitted. Smile

i will get numbers of mine tomorrow, ive got 320lb springs, i recently sold a set of Gaz's that were 350lb

i want to try a weaker set of springs to see if they would be less crashy, Faulkener suggested 180lb at a mere £80

KW V2s come with 60N/mm = 345lb/in springs (60mm id).
Standard GAZ Gold kit comes with 350lb/in springs (unless specified otherwise).

Well they run considerably better than the ASTs. Must be the correct damping rate for the spring, something i've had issues with on my other sets of AST. Especially the Volvo.

I think that it is all in how the dampers are designed / valved. Certainly what I would describe as "crashy" ride is down to dampers.

As for swapping for softer springs on GAZ - the problem is that the valving is done for a specific spring rate. You can get away with fitting springs that a close to specified but when fitting much softer ones the dampers would have to be re-valved to suite.

Thread bump here am about to order some Gaz golds to match the rears I have as I can get them at a steal of a price. Wondering what spring rate to order though.... mine is mainly road use so ideally not too crashy but not the end of the world. car weighs probably 1050-1100kg. Have gaz golds 21mm bars hybrid rear Arb and solid rear mounts so want front spring rate to suit.

Anyone any useful input? I'm awaiting the supplier to let me know what's available but will probably know tomorrow.

If it's any use I have a set of 250lb 10 inch springs for my Gaz Golds somewhere that I don't need, happy to sell them to you? Might be useful to try out?

On the race car I run 350 or 400lb so 250 might be about right

From.this thread someone said they are 350 standard on gaz gold? Zseems a bit high to me? Springs aren't expensive really so I might just order them standard and see how I get on. Worth bearing in mind tho Dan Thumbs up

350 seems high for standard, Allan suggested around that for 23.5mm TBs so seems a bit stiff for 21s.

The 250s are no good for me so I'll bung them on eBay anyway Smile

Ordered mine today their made to order but will be here within 2 weeks hopefully the guy said as ive onky ordered fronts to complete the set. Though can take up to 4 weeks.

I decided to just order them as they come as the shocks though adjustable will be valved to the springs. See how I get on and if I find them to harsh I'll see if you still have the 250lb ones.

Edit: in another thread Mr Allan Allan Allan Allan said from memory their 8" 300lbs standard. Find out when they turn up lol

Just seen Davey said this in another thread completely different claim of standard spring rate... maybe they changed over the years the shocks certainly have.

"When I got mine they came as standard with 350 Lbs springs on which were way too soft even on a significantly lightened carv and as a result I had terrible knocking noises as the suspension bottomed out. I ended up having to send them back for checking until they realised that they had specced the wrong spring weight, they then sent out some 420 lbs and some 450 lbs springs, the 420s cured the knocking and all has been well ever since. "

Was thinking that. Like I said I've ordered them standard and will see what they feel like hopefully decent or I'll be disappointed.... was going to message you Adam and ask your opinion on a fast road spring rate for them. But will see what standard fares like first.

All I'm after is decent damping which I can match to the rear, fairly flat cornering on track but not too horribly crashy for road. Somewhere in the middle really.

It's acceptable with 21 bars in the back. You still ride over most bumps, but you are then compromised on track with it being a tad soft.

I ran the standard springs for a bit but found them too hard, my car is about 1000kg though with quite a lot of weight out of the front

Mines nearer 1100 by the time the cage is in and a big intercooler up the front lol. Getting carbon bonnet back on and the sunroof and all bitumen from floors are now gone so hopefully saved a bit there.

You say their too hard but too soft for track?

I'm aware this is no help to you guys but my Black Art Design are full length sets of two springs & They use Helper springs to make them progressive ....
They feel at home on Combe & the road ....they are amazing all rounders ....Thumbs up

I'm not sure many shocks are threaded the whole length as they are ?
Can't recommend them enough Thumbs up

I presume those are tender springs as mentioned above mate? So 125 lbs or so to make it progressive rather than.helper springs which just keep the spring in place over bumps.

Helper ones you can push with your hands lol. Tried some AP coilovers before with Helper springs and I could lift push the wheel up and down on the ramp from underneath they don't do anything really.
