i bought a 1.6 purely for the shell, it wasn't inspiring to drive and didn't feel that quick, and having had 2 1.9's i know which i'd go for out of the 2

but i decided to drop the 6 lump in it instead Yes 16v FTMFLOVW

Well that's always an option. I've done a few engine conversions myself.
I'm guessing reangled manifold, new loom and the rest is a straight swap?

It's very well documented and easy to do with loads of parts available off the shelf. I'd say even my wench could do it let unattended if she grasped left from right when using a ratchet.

depends on the car you buy to transplant whether it's a 1.6 or a 1.9, it sounds simple and straight forward and it is really but don't underestimate how many bits you need. i've done my own loom, own manifold, bought some BBM Hoses, a BBM adapter, rigged up the oil pressure sensor etc, there's quite a few things you need to get your head around still.. then there's everything that snapped when you took it apart and what's the point having an engine on your floor and not doing the timing belt, clutch, waterpump etc at the same time?

I borrowed my mates standard and immaculate sub 90k mile ph2 1.6 for the evening.
Rides surprisingly well over bump country roads and steering feel is great. Chassis is predictable and nimble. Lift off overseer is not as savage as reviews make you believe.

The reason I won't be buying one is lack of power. As Revvy and playful as it may seem it just doesn't habe the grunt I'm used to.

Funny that, weight is similar to a 106gti, power only 5-10 at the most down on a std 106...

    Grunt? Try a valver...

I plan on it. Gti6'd 205 seems to be the answer.
By what I'm used to I mean a totally stripped s1 16v Rallye which left 6s and rensport clios well behind.
Its more that snappy and lairy punch that I miss.
