Might as well leave the glove box open for all the difference it'll make.

Yes stan,it works, obviously adblue is made for the likes of trucks and diesel engines but the purpose is to limit the emmisions and a good spray up the exhaust on mot time works a treat, short term obviously till u get ur certificate and can afford to fork out for a new cat

Huh? LOL

Might work, if you had a diesel...and were taking it for a commercial MOT where they actually measure the emissions it affects...

Emmisions are emmisions weather it be petrol or diesel though and if it can reduce them in a high powered diesel engine that produces alot id be more than certain it could do it in a 6 but then again id more than certanly agree a new cat would be the best way forward, was just something i got told about by someone who done it,i wouldnt try it myself but theoryetically speaking thats the purpose of adblue

new ball joint and swing arm fitted today. found n fixed a leaky oil return pipe right next to the oil filter, new fuel filter, cleaned and spark gap tested plugs, had another partial go at neatening the wiring up in my engine bay.

im sunburnt, sweaty, oily and tired now Smile

just waiting for parts now really. orderd a new full set of pads and disc. full set of braided lines and a nice new shiny cat.
came to just under £200 from ebay, but will they get here in time?? : O (insert mission impossible theme)

did an oil flush of sorts today with some cheap (asda smart price) oil and the old filter on. will do filter change and proper oil tommorrow. whats the thickest a gti can take? 15w 40? am i right in thinking that thicker oil gives better engine protection at the cost of a few ponies?

and nowo my views on diesel n petrol emmissions, petrol kills the planet but doesnt harm people (as much), diesel saves the planet but not people. if i remeber correctly its only the co2 emmisions and one other reading in diesels that are a lot lower, all the actually nasty kill you chemicals are found in a lot higher quantities in diesel exhaust fumes.

feel free to call bullah, internet can always be wrong.

ill keep you all updated on how the work n the retest goes. wether you like it or not

cheers again

jim

Usually if you half fill it with twice as much it is fine. But don't quote me.

lol abuse. its not abuse it banter

anyways, retest, i lost the oil leak, lost the exhasut blow, my rear brakes were fine, emmission fine, lights fine, impressed mechanic with how i made brakes a lot less spongy with some glue and that naff brake vacum valve thing........

my ball joint has a lot less play than before but still has "minor" play in the balljoint hub clamp so i need to replace the hub : ( failed!!!!!

ive asked on another thread in the suspension section, but will a phs 3 xsi hub fit on a phase one gti?

failing that any ideas on how to "fix" my loose hub clamp? the metakl deformed slightly

cheers in advance
jim
