Having used the search button am still a bit confused as to which suspension I should be looking at for My Track based project. Will still be Road legal though and used a bit on Road!
Will be mostly used on track Spec is 22.5 tbs 30mm Arb solid mounts. Front end is Rollerbearing wishbone bushes negative camber machined front and rear hubs? Car is fully stripped Weld in cage 2 bucket seats poly windows and lightweight panels so considerably lighter than standard.

Thinking for around the £1400 mark could get some custom springs on Ast Coilovers. Or some Black art designs Coilovers with the option of making them remote canistered in the future?

Any recommendations? Cheers for the help Thumbs up

You my friend need to speak to Dennis. Aka Russianguy. He's probably got the best handling trackday car on the forum, and he's had feedback and product development info from Ash who races so its all relevant. I'm sure Ash will give you Dennis' contact info as he's not on here much these days.

In the process of fitting it all now (have to work out where and how to mount the canisters).
Not sure when I’ll be out next – will start a thread in the Meets section once I know.

As for the old suspension, the front coilovers are my old ones with external canisters added (when I originally ordered them – we put the provision to upgrade them in the future if needs be). The rear Bilsteins are actually on loan from my friend and will be returned to him.
This was one of the reasons for upgrade – I needed to buy some new rear dampers anyway. Really like the racing Bilsteins, but ideally they need some adjustability. So we put them on the dyno at BAD, and then John designed new valving and adjusters to work in the required range.

A bit more info on the front setup:
- Eibach springs 250-550lb tender progressive and 650lb mains
- The strut bodies are shortened (compare to normal length) to get the piston in the mid-stroke position when the car is at the ride height
- ARB brackets relocated to return the ARB to the normal position with the car been lower

Did it not feel crashy with such highly rated front springs?

Nope not at all. I was expecting thuds and bangs when he took me out at ace cafe but nope. Felt wicked. Due to the progessive springs working before the main spring it soaks up the smaller bumps. Bit like sag on a mtb

crashyness is from poor damping more than anything.

Will have a chat with you in the near future about the tender progressive springs as that might be the answer to my Volvo ride quality problems. Its having different springs today (longer 400s) so hope that will sort it out. I've been thinking for some time that smaller progressives with a stronger main spring might be the way forward, but bit looked into it.

When you run two springs, one on top of the other, this is the same as having two resistors in parallel. So that overall spring rate is lower than smallest.

So with my 250-550lb tender progressive and 650lb main springs the overall rate starts with 180lb when the front wheels start to touch the ground. Goes to about 270lb with the car on the ground, then it is 300lb when the tender progressive closes and the spring rate goes to 650lb.

What it means in practice is that you get very low spring rate when driving in a straight line. Once you turn in to a corner and weight transfer happens – the outside of the car rides on very stiff spring which resists the roll. As a bonus, as the other side gets unloaded – there spring gets softer and it pushes up less = still less body roll!
