It's my brother who's running 300zx pistons but it was a huge amount of machining involved and in hindseight a set of off the shelf ones would of been easier

Well this is what I've decided with your help,

Knife edge and balance existing crank.
Lightened flywheel and pulley
New rings
Shell bearings
Pocket existing pistons by 1mm
pt81 cams
4-2-1 manifold
Head work

Let me know what you think

Don't "knife edge" the crank, but do get the flywheel and crank pulley and clutch cover balanced with it.

you dont need to change the exhaust manifold at this power lever, the standard one will suffice, do you know what the standard gti6 one looks like?

no need for head work either, its a VERY good head.

Yeah the standard one is the curly one I think. Wont knife edge the crank, head work and manifold combined increase bhp.

Interested to see how this pans out as so far I've gone down opposite route with bodies and 4-2-1 manifold but engine work will be next step

seriously, at this very mild level of tuning work to the head if likely drop bhp/torque, you aren't changing the spec of part enough to need different port shapes or sizes, same goes for the manifold unless you spend £800 on one, which if you plan on a higher spec engine build at a later date will be the wrong spec again.

So you suggest just balance crank, flywheel and pulley. Pocket pistons and pt81 cams

Surely this will require a remap aswell (to get the most out of your pt81s ?)

Wayne at Chipwizards should be able to do this for you using your existing ecu (he remapped my car with my pt80s)

Will set you back a further £400 (plus the trip to Northampton and back, and the best part of a tank of fuel while your there)

May be worth checking whether your head has been skimmed too (or it'll tap like mine f**kING does) although pocketed pistons will help avoid contact

Edit: btw i've not read any of the previous 5 pages, so what i've said might be repetition or not relevant for you

Dave

New Peugeot 306 GTi-6 / Rallye / XU10J4RS 195 bhp Stage Two tuning package launched by Pug1off
The ultimate bolt-on tuning upgrade has arrived for your Peugeot 306 GTi-6, Rallye or 205 GTi with an XU10J4RS transplant! Carefully developed using well proven components including Cat Cams / a Pug1off ECU remap / a Pug1off 4-2-1 performance manifold and a Pug1off gasflowed throttle body, this package has been independently dyno tested at 195 bhp and 155 lb.ft of torque.

Offering large amounts of additional power allied to strong mid-range torque and excellent driveability, the Pug1off Stage Two tuning package represents a lower priced alternative to throttle body conversions and is lighter on insurance premiums too.

The Pug1off 306 GTi-6 / Rallye / XU10J4RS 205 Stage 2 upgrade package is priced at £1940.00 fitted in our workshops including VAT. As a lower cost option but with nearly the same performance the above package is also offered without the Pug1off 4-2-1 exhaust manifold with an RRP £1340.00 fitted including VAT

I'm seriously thinking about this option, without the exhaust manifold as they have even stated in their advert there's minimal difference. What does everybody think

^ Not inlet manifold, just a polished throttle body, which will essentially do nothing except MAYBE give a crisper throttle response.

Its not a great deal im told LOL

cams, £400, Chipwizards remap £400 (if you can get hold of Wayne...)

"gasflowed" standard throttle bodies are for the young boys down Macdonalds.

Get on the blower to Sandy, tell him what your budget is and let him guide you as to what's possible with the funds you have. Be prepared to spend more money than you originally planned on though, these things have a habit of spiralling out of control.
Personally, I'd be concentrating on weight saving, oil control and water temp reductions first before I started seeking more power. Handling and braking improvements will net lower lap times far more easily than a 10-20% power hike.

Jesus christ . 1300 odd for cams and a map?

Remap £ 400 max
Cams £300
Seals £20 max
Belt £25 max
Thottle body £ man hours

Roughly £800 for parts max. £500 Labour thats shed loads.......unless they are ripping the engine out....then you've got engine oil, coolant ect.

Might as well do it yourself be cheaper.
