why not cut the roof off it and fill it up / use it as a moonstone hot tub?

Why go to all the hassle of that?

I can leave it in the garage under a cover and not have to worry about lifting a finger on it then. Effortless ownership FTW...Yes

not really hassle tbh, just quick snip of the pillars and run the hose pipe into it. then just put the heaters on to warm the water up. simple

Kind of spot on there...

I've not 'lost' the love for it, but would rather not spend time keeping it up to the standard it currently is and the upkeep.
I thoroughly enjoy bikes now, so my interests have shifted somewhat. It's not disheartening knowing what I've spent on the car as I have enjoyed every single mod I've done to it, and have had/still having some wonderful years with the car, so I'm happy about that. I'm basically storing it again as I won't have a use for it or a desire to use it and don't wish to sell up. I'm not in a financial position to need to sell it, so I'd rather keep it sat there where I know it's nice and safe/warm. Smile

Yeah, I get that to be honest.

But if you're tired of driving it, then what can you do? I put it away at the end of 2011 thinking that the time was right. It probably was in hindsight, but I have decided to get it back out this year so I will continue driving it this year obviously, and then put it away, only this time for good. Smile

Motorcycles are where my interests lie now, so that is where I shall be focused come the end of the year. Thumbs up

Nope, no joke.

Once this year is over, I will have no further need or use for the car for the foreseeable future. Therefore, it shall hibernate once more, but this time much longer than the 18 months it sat for before as I will be solely concentrating on bikes and the car will be redundant. Wink

Done 100 miles on my bike in a week, have to say that's quite an achievement, did 400 last year LOL

Can't get used to the sore wrist when riding through town tho, don't know whether its a stiff clutch giving me the grief. I get ya regards the bike though, if you want something fast a bike is the way forward, cars don't stand a chance.

It's probably the clutch causing it Carl as it's a cable operation. The K7 was the first to be given a hydraulic clutch and is supposed to be so much nicer. Thumbs up

Dont like bikes, too many deaths as the need for speed is so addictive with bikes.

Had a good blast with an R1 down a 'private" country road and although very fast in a straight line, not so much round bends. 90% of bike riders seem too frightened to push them in corners which for me makes them pointless. Plus id want to stay in my nice warm metal shell. Smile

Cars will always be faster in bends though Aaron, they've got 4 contact patches with the road as opposed to 2...

You're right though, there are riders out there which don't like to push their machines in bends. I don't mind myself as for me, that's where the fun is. I've just modded my suspension actually to make the bike more suited to my riding style and I'm currently finding the bends even more enjoyable. Don't forget though, a major point of having a bike for a lot of people (especially if commuting) is the ability not to get stuck in traffic.

Maybe, a big one for most though is how quick they are in a straight line, never bothering to learn to ride corners and those two factors combined is a lethal combination.

You have a point, corners are a large part of learning to ride. I haven't mastered it myself yet, although I'm not far off.
The way I see it is that riding a bike is a constant learning curve and a challenge and that's what keeps it interesting and enjoyable for me. Yes

I'm not sure its uneducated? Cant argue with the facts, The simple facts are that you are sat onto of an engine with two wheels and protected by only you helmet and leathers (If you choose to have them)

Obviously it comes down to how sensible you are, But i don't think beez_neez_gt is doubting that.

Stans right nothing beats the acceleration of a bike. Bhp per £ no comparison a car with the same acceleration as a bike would be well over the £80000 to build and would be totally impractical day to day.
The reason i haven't bought a bike is because to be quite frank don't trust myself only takes a quick twist of the throttle and you're into three figures and that then becomes you're cruising speed everywhere.Whistle

Its not just the riders its the other traffic not spotting you, it only takes one person not to spot you but in car it is safer overall and corners are more fun in a car than stright speed. There are plenty of safe bikers out there but the rest ie roads pot hole drivers are not.

that's Right a friend riding his bike at 60 mph had a door of a parked car opened straight into him, A bike is a small target for you're eyes and tend to be going much faster than a car. I feel dangerously expos on my quadbike when I ride that is bad enough and top speed is only 80mph. always riding with headlights in the vain hope that you're seen! Thumbs up
