Hi

I've just become the owner of a rather nice Phase 3 GTi6 in China Blue and have plans to give it a bit of an overhaul and bring it up to my somewhat exacting standards, keeping it as original as possible.

I've been a member on here for ages as my 1st and 2nd cars were a 1.9 DTurbo and 2.0 HDi (for insurance reasons) but didn't post that much and left Peugeot behind for a lovely BMW E46 330Ci Sport which whilst an amazing car, needs to go to unlock some money for a future house purchase & make way for a car that's easier to live with on B roads and for putting a mountain bike in the boot.... enter the GTi6.

Currently I've a long list of parts that are needed, and I will be posting an add in the wanted section soon, so if any of you lot can help that would be much appreciated.

I'm based in Chester and hope to get along to a meet or two in the future.

Will post some updates here once I have some good photo's of the car & make progress on replacing bit's and pieces

Cheers

By the end of it you will have ended up spending thousands on a 306 wondering why you bought it to say money LOL

Good to see there are a few members around here, the car is solid & needs no major work, but I just want to sort a few little things and get it looking as good as possible - spares are cheap so it's not going to run into the thousands... I hope!

I'm aware of your beam rebuild / lowering services Jord, and may call round at some point for a quick once over, my car has 40mm SPAX springs on and I am thinking about returning to standard, The beam is as normal apparently but I can't tell if it's been adjusted as it seems to match the front end... again not had time to look over it too much.

I work at Tweeks (in the bicycle dept) and see a few 6's and Rallye's in from time to time.

You've most likely seen both my and coz-kevs rallyes at some point.

I'm not driving a pug anymore, but quite happy to help others with theirs.

Welcome!

Ph3 China; good choice!

Good luck with the refresh. If your front is lowered, normally the smaller torsion bars at the rear are fitted at the same time. How does it ride? I'd say stick with what you've got rather than having to go back to std torsion beams, but I've spent a fair wad (yes, thousands rather than hundreds) so if you want to then go for it! Am doing suspension refresh next, sticking with mostly std other than the group n wishbone bushes I just bought.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I will be taking it to see Jord once on the road for a once over - not even had chance to look at it over the past week really, but picked up an under-tray for £10 and heading to a scrapyard on Sat to get a few trim things.... does anyone know of one being broken in the area?

Also sorry to whoever came into Tweeks today asking about me, was flat out and couldn't leave the telephone's - but if you call in again let me know and I will pop down for a chat.

Must admit I was worried about moving back to a 306 (rose tinted spec and all that) from my E46, but am really happy with the 'downgrade' whilst it may be a little, it certainly doesn't feel much slower at normal speeds & is a much better all rounder for B-Roads & carrying mountain bikes and snowboards!

A small world, Yes I know Gaz... he does the telesales and I cover customer service on the phones for the cycle side of things.

The car is sitting on my drive as i'm still using the 3er, but it would be good to have a chat about a few bits and pieces, do you do other work aside from the beam rebuilds?

Cheers

A quick update...

I've been busy giving the car a bit of attention, it's not turned a wheel since I bought it but I've thus far managed the following:

Re-Fitted rear wiper motor (just need the arm / blade now)
Sourced an undetray and missing arch liner panels ready for fitting
Removed aftermarket stereo
Removed unwanted sub/amp wiring
Temp fixed door check strap (though I need a new one as it clicks loudly)
Cleaned and greased the interior fan motor, now quiet
Fixed auto window function on drivers door
Re-attached various bits of missing trim

My current job is to sort out a burnt relay, details of which can be found on this thread: Burt Out Relay Issue

I've also posted a Wanted thread here: Stuff Needed

To which any help is much appreciated... I will sort pictures when I have time, been rushed off my feet at the moment though, but taking the opportunity to get as much done whilst the car is off the road as possible.

Cheers
