I've been trying to remove the front disc from my car but with absolutely no success, the drivers side came off no problem at all. Undid the two grub screws and it fell onto the floor, the passenger side is having none of it, I've tried hitting it (quite hard) while spinning it to get the force all the way around, I've pumped it full of releasing agent for days and still nothing. I wasn't sure on giving it any heat because of the bearings in the hub, the only piece of advise I have heard is to pee on the hub as apparently this will break down the rust. I don't want to p**s on my car, especially since it is on the drive at the front of my house. Any ideas??________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |

Just give it some heat buddy and whack the disc, the hub builds up a huge amount of heat anyway when running so it shouldn't make a difference. ________________________________________ Richies Project RallyeElectrical work carried out in Portsmouth jamiek_uk2000 wrote: - Top Tip!!! Pee in the privacy of your house into a pop bottle then go outside and release onto the disc.________________________________________ Black X Reg PIII.VGTi 6 A4212 pt 1 A4212 pt 2 Searching the streets of Bristol for 1.36p/day.Joint Kent Leader |

Is the p**s thing actually true then, I heard it off a guy on site today but didn't believe him. I always knew that the brakes got the temp but wasn't sure on the hub itself, should I be trying to heat it from the rear of the disk where the disc joins the hub?________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! I was swinging like a monkey in a tree at it, it just didn't want to go. At one point I thought I was going to hit the car off the axle stands!________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Hit it harder. They come off easily with rounded off screws still holding them on, so not sure why you are still struggling. Perhaps run the car on axle stands and step on the brakes. If that doesn't loosen it then affix a passenger airbag to the disk and attach a wire to the battery. ________________________________________ |

I've got no front end at all at the moment, so running it isn't an option. So basically I need to just keep hitting it, I'll chuck some heat on it first and if it doesn't come off I need to get someone with an actual pair of real arms, not these stringy things that hang out of my T-shirt to hit it for me? ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Maybe your bra is restricting your swing? Put your handbag down slacken off you're blouse slightly and just hit the f**king thing!I smacked off a 306 diesel disc with 2 seized rounded off grub screws the other day... Use a bigger hammer it'll get the job done . Worst ones I used to do all the time working for mitsubishi were about 10 year old shogun ck ones with warped front discs. By the time I had finished hitting them the disc would split in 2 through the vented part all the way round and would often pretty much disintegrate by the time they came off. ________________________________________ Black power baby! gilesy wrote: Have you taken the wheel off yet? Do you have to then? But seriously, I've changed enough discs and pads on cars to know what it should be like. Even ones that have been tough have come off much easier than this. I think I may put some copper grease between the hub and disc to stop this ever happening again. Or just don't leave it off the road for 18 months without a cover next tim ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! I will be on the case tmrw straight after work. I shall update on the situation. This could either work, end up injuring myself almost fatally or I will be phoning Roland for the hub for the other side of the car ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! You're not using a toffee hammer are you? I jest yet I kept the one that came with a slab of toffee for Christmas. You just never know when you might need a small hammer. I thought it may be useful to knock the trailing arms off my beam. ________________________________________ |
