A brief search suggests they cut it open and alter the trumpets
Is this worth getting done to a road engine, say with PT81's?

What exactly do (or did) Longmans do to the inlet? A brief search suggests they cut it open and alter the trumpets Is this worth getting done to a road engine, say with PT81's? |

Was done to increase airflow but they also ran standalone management so the map sensor was also removed and other sensors not needed. |

ok. so with mild-ish cams and remap, it wouldnt be worth it would it?Looking at ways to crack 200bhp N/A, 81's,pocketed pistons and map |

Wasnt this done and tested before and after mapping by someone on here? Sure i read about someone chopping the inlet open, chopping the trumpets off and welding it up and all he got was abit extra mid range? Not much benefits tho________________________________________ Clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

extra mid range would be good as long as there's no loss anywhere else |

i heard when this is done with a new management system it can acheive more power than throttle boddies ![]() ________________________________________ 97 1.6 xs gti6 conversion![]() 99 black rallye ( low miles and immaculate ![]() new owner of a 2001 diablo red hdi mile muncher ![]() 99 red rallye turbo sold then died ![]() 00 moonstone 1.9d (slow) |

That Dave bloke tried it. I think he lost a lot of midrange.Need a high revving engine to make the most of it ________________________________________ Team 'unintentional rat look' |

i doubt you'd need to do it if your running boost as engine is now - Forced inducted |

that was an interesting read, seems its not worth doing unless your planning to go daft on other bits, cams, management, head work etc |

I have a standard engine with a longmans inlet running on management and its 1/2 sec quicker than my other 205 on bodies down the quarter mileStill prefer the sound of bodies tho |

im guessing its quicker becuase the standard long runners aid torque, but wait a minute, their shorterif they've been de-trumpeted! this subject intrigues me |

Shorter inlet tract to match the cam specs. Probably wouldn't loose quite as much down low as Jim did with a hopped up cam too.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. It's absolutely rapid. It really does pull like a train all the way through the rev range |

so, to summarise, unless cams are uprated then its a pointless move, yes/no?! |
