Woehahahah 300bhp? Stock engine can easily take 400bhp with only decomp, 400 is the bare minimum for monday... The S16 turbo of Eric, with only decompplate did 466bhp and everything then was still spot on, EGT , no knock etc etc.. and that thing still lives and has been abused more then a polish streethooker addicted on crack |

Ah, it was just a little dissapointing, and again more money down the drain... since 4 new injectors are NOT cheap, a new Lambda, forgot to mention we also had to drain the "new" expensive oil, since it was drenched with gasoline of the car running abnormal rich ( also the 3injector maybe p**sing/faulting) Pieter said, we should be able to see 400 ATW, which is around 465bhp at the crank, but i dont think i want to go that far. Im happy with something slightly over 400bhp |

still can't get my head around the fact that these engines can cope with well over double factory power with no more than decomp plates or machined pistons. i reckon the high boost supercharge boys would easily get away it too. |

T99Pug, there were 2 HIGH BOOST SC 306s on the dyno @ DP, one saying around 450, car didnt even had 330 on the dyno (uk cars!)Other one was around 390bhp and didnt even have 320 @ the crank The old 205 S16 Turbo from Eric, who did 404BHP @ the wheels, wich is 466bhp crank, was also a stock engine, with decompplate and had already 120.000 MILES! 200.000km!!! |

and here was me thinking it went bang on the rollers lol. So are you saying that 2 "400" bhp high boost 306's have been proven to actually be running nearer 320bhp? i keep thinking about just running a decomp plate in mine and seeing what happens tbh. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Try it! if it does let go then its not the end of the world, it seems it's a proven fact that these engines can handle ALOT of power. I personally know someone who is running a 6 turbo with 8valve turbo pistons. makes just over 340bhp and gets abused everywhere it goes, nothing within the engine has failed so far and it too has 4 years under it's belt |

Just had my heart droping down my pants when i read your new thread title. Seems all is good thou... Honestly I am not really looking forward to getting mine rr'ed when I read what the HB 6's did on the hub dyno. Did Pieter had any low boost rotrex converted 6 on the dyno yet and if so what power have they made? I guess decomp plate smaller pulley and larger restrictor ring will be the answer then as I find that one only starts to notice. The power above the 4k rpm mark. |

I dont want to burst anyones bubble but the supposedly 450bhp sc was from the owner of the company who makes the kits, he wasnt even close to what he said he had.Birk was very right that most sced 6s dont get near to what the kit claims. Even the atspeed 106 didnt perform to what they claim on the dynapack. A simple 106 with gt2871r and dp intake and decompplate does easily 422bhp, one from bas easily 466, s16 from eric on stock motor with 120.000miles on it! 404bhp at the wheels which is 465 crank So i dont know who made it up that an engine needs forged parts for over 250/300 bhp The s16 underblock is perfect for boost and can take silly abuse boostwise, he says on ron98 with decent mapping 400bhp all day long. On e85 around 100 more safe. |

I know what a certain person has paid for his sc conversion, and its crazy money for what it brings bhp wise. |

As for people being amazed at how a car can handle the power its why is it that much of a shock? We already know the standard crank puts up with 450hp all day long, What takedown has is an engine with the same spec as a Super high boost albeit without forging? Why is this so hard to grasp? Just because it works, doesnt mean you are going to sell that to a customer, I completely respect what Rich is doing and lets be honest lets look at the results, Its way above the reliability that you expect from a 400hp odd 306 and very few of them have gone bang becuase its obviously over engineered to a degree, Thats what being a respectable tuner is all about. Just becuase you can doesnt make it the best idea. Incidently, Theres nothing exciting or new about getting a xu10j4rs and turboing it with standard internals, Those guuys from brazil had standard engines at 500hp with 10:8.1 compression. Yes it was ethanol but obviously it worked ok. My SC conversion will have cost me less than £2300 when i'm done and for 80-100hp i think thats very good bang for buck. ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

This is all word of mouth! Of course Dp are going to slate the supercharger conversions they rely on selling there products ie there manifolds and turbochargers there not going to promote someone elses product. They say that a highboost was supposed to be making 450 what a load of absolute bo***cks even with water meth binozs only made 460! Those two high boost cars on hub dyno so 18% fwd transmisson makes it approx 390 bhp not far away from the 400 bhp which it's supposed to be ! Petes car made 248bhp as a low boost to be fair you probably could use a standard engine with a decompression plate but youre still opening the engine to fit that so worth uprating internals for peace of mind to be fair though why not give it a go? as Elliot said RichW sold these highboosts overengineered as any tuner will i beleive the spec of a highboost is much stronger than it needs to be i for one know that my Forged engine is specked for 600bhp! I may ask Pugheaven if hell put RichW old car on rolling road just to find out what it's pushing out i personally think it will hit 430 odd bhp from how it felt last time i was in it. Who was the owner of the kits Takedown because there's not just one manufacture any more and why were british cars taken to Dp for Dynoing many miles from home not like its just down the road? I for one am hoping that you hit great figures on your car takedown and with the spec you have you really should but if you're pushing 400odd on a standard bottom end what could youre car push with a forged engine ? I wouldlike you to ask the question to Dp if you could? ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

People are ignoring the fact that the charged engines generate their power through the rev range, the turbo engines have no chance of producing the same linear torque curve. Its partly the reason you can run NA biased cams in a supercharged engine. You could spend years arguing about chasing BHP from turb and SC cars, but at the end of the day, I would rather have a well built forged engine running a supercharger running up to 7-8krpm, with a whole rev range of power - than a stock bottom end running as much boost as possible through it, praying on the fact that the french havent built a s**tter of an engine, where the turbo power comes in one big lump, with less than half the rev range to use it...That being said, i'll stick to my own 2.3 NA build... ________________________________________ 205 GTIXsara HDI |

Well considering ive got 5.5k of full boost to use and turbos arent all or nothing well s**te ones are i cant see how a turbo car isnt as controlabe as a sc one and as far as an n/a car goes your power band is silly small and alot of wedge for not alot of power. not that power is important torque talks power means nothing________________________________________ |
