i bought brand new hub to wishbone pinch bolts and hub to strut pinch bolts for the 205, i ended up buying 306 hub to strut ones but the normal 205 ones for the hub. it is brand new. i can 'lend' it you if you want to pick it up, and if it's the same you can use them

edit> mine are 362261. i believe there was a difference between 306 p1 and 306 p2/p3 ones

Thanks for the offer though xxx

They weren't especially tight and were quite corroded so after a couple of turns with the BFO wrench to tighten (actually the 8th flat) it snapped. And was an epic dog pig to get out as it was corroded in.

mine were the same when i stripped the old shocks down but i just got a bit of heat on there and boshed it out with a punch after snapping the head off the old one. the other side was absolutely fine tho. there's a few part numbers, i ended up going for the 306 ones as the 205 ones were NFP i think or superceeded

Don't forget that the standard ones have a long shank on them though.

not a problem if you buy longer bolts than you need and cut off the excess.

i think what he is saying is that the shank is better than the thread. although i did buy new baljoint-hub pinch bolts and they've been replaced by fully threaded ones from the dealer

50/55mm's should have approx 30mm or more of shank anyway.

50mm bolts only expose about 1 thread though so I'll definitely have to get longer. It won't foul anything where it is but I may just cut off the excess to save weight in my P1 'lighter than a rallye' car.

Yeah basically, it's the shank part which secures the part in the hole, although I'm surprised dealers have now changed the bolts to fully threaded...

I just got some proper ones with the shank from a dealer a month ago and he had no problems getting them. A local substitution rather than an official one maybe?

I honestly can't see Peugeot changing the part 'officially' after the car has been in production for 15+ years, it can't have been the correct Pug part.

    i went in and got:

    ordered - 3622 30 x2 - nuts x4
    ordered - 6923 96 x2 - balloint pinch bolts x2
    ordered - 3622 61 x2 - hub pinch bolts x2 (gti6 part but fit 205)
    ordered - 6939 61 x6 - suspension top mount nuts
    ordered - 6948 98 x6 - suspension top mount washers
    ordered - 6980 40 x1 - strap for wiring

(bear in mind some of that is 205 stuff)

and they are fully threaded, no shank. genuine parts, the whole lot, sealed and bagged Yes

i've ran fully threaded on my old cars too in the past without problem

    Happens a fair bit tbh.

For example go and order a front caliper retaining bolt and you won't get the 19mm one you're used to. You'll get a Torx jobbie.

I get the impression what they do is rather than re stock 'older style things', they just think 'the Peugeot XXX uses a revised so an so, so we will just supply that now'.

I've got a feeling you're right Dan, it is getting to that stage whereby parts for the 306 are becoming hard to obtain in some cases. Sad

All dealers do it. We needed new rod bolts for our formula Renault engine which were standard dealer parts and the ones we got were shocking. Low grade fully threaded things. We ended up buying proper ARP bolts in the end.
