The next forum public debate will concern the report thread and autolock feature.

Originally this was added so people were not dependent on Admin to remove spam threads.

Still useful, or not?

I think the general consensus is Ash that people felt it was beneficial when Admin presence was sketchy. Yes

Now most Admin are active daily users I believe the report button/autolock has become unnecessary. I'm sure others will be along soon to put in their 2p worth, but I believe the majority feel the same.

It's good for reporting but not auto lock as members can't be trusted to use it in a mature way.

Yep keep to report abusive bad posts but no auto lock threads, maybe we could be able to lock our own threads up when finished with like for sale ones etc.

i think being able to moderate YOUR OWN thread is a huge thing. like, listing stuff for sale and then having 10 replies, all of which you've attended to. might aswell be able to bin them comments and edit your first post with updated lists so you've not got 100 posts of info to trawl through. i've always had to pm admin to get all posts deleted from threads or stupid comments etc etc etc

I do think it can be handy for admin to see which threads are causing members concern.

As above, the report thread feature is good. The autolock feature is no longer needed.

It is very annoying when you see someone has reported a thread for no reason though and you dont know who it is. As long as it doesnt get auto locked then I guess its ok. But you prefects better not start locking perfectly good threads just cus there is some controversy in it and some unknown lamewad has reported it.

Its fine to remove it if mods actually moderate more regularly rather than as we often see just perpetuating the threads or just locking them, that's not moderating LOL:

How *exactly* would you like us to deliver the moderation?

I see plenty of threads being deleted or moved to the right sections, locked if necessary or with a good reason to and there is usually an admin member on here most of the time. I think they do a good job but I'm curious to read what you think they could do to improve.

This very thread shows Ash is looking at ways to improve also.

The moderation here is far better and down to earth than some i know, banning people for a while as a telling off is a good idea. Some forums treat you like your still at school, and apparently freedom of speach is also not completely allowed, i smell a cover up on another forum.
