Hav you been topping it up with water at all? The antifreeze must be diluted some what.

As you say water expands when it freezes but it also expands a bit more when it thaws.

Hopefully it will be ok but I don't know how you would warm it up gently appart from putting it inside a garage or something and leave it to thaw at its own pace.

it had a a bit of a water leak doqn to a damaged gasket on the thermostat housing so i replaced that flushed the system bled it off n put 50/50 antifreeze/water i was thinkin about lockin it in the garage unclipping as many hoses as possible and whacking the heater on n let it thaw out for a few hours u think that may work ?

If it was 50/50, no way should it be frozen

I would just be very cautious and not let it thaw too quickely. As above, it should never have froze. 50/50 should protect to at least -26

Depends if it was pre-mixed or not....

Certainly I would not try and start it, just wait a few days for it to warm up, leave it facing the sun.

LOL

It's getting colder not warmer! December has just started, it'll get a lot colder yet before it gets warmer. If the OP leaves it a few days it'll just freeze again every night.

if he leaves it for one morning though in the sun to defrost it then just plough a load of antifreeze in there that should do Yes

If the cooling system is full though he will need to empty some of it to get the extra antifreeze in there. Yes

Waste of time!LOL

Would never make its way around the systemNo

I would get it in the garage with a small electric heater blowing under the front, then just cross your fingers that you don't get coolant leaking out anywhere as it meltsSad

You say you put a 50/50 mix in,how much antifreeze did you use?Dunno

It could still crack something though, much like pouring hot water on a frozen windscreen.

i've done that for years and never cracked a windscreen btw

my brother who fitted windscreens said it was largely a myth and, unless it was an absolutely battered or stonechipped / overly repaired / cracked screen previously where moisture could get in, that was likely to never happen

Not according to climate change it isnt.

I always use luke warm water for the screen, which slowly defrosts it so it wont crack. Not on a screen that is anyway damaged though. Using hot water defrosts it too quickly which means it will crack, i never buy de-icer.
