Have I got this right?

It comes to light that Ash is earning £3k a year in membership fees now (I have highlighted this fact some time ago as well) and when issues are raised about the "slack" maintenance of the site he gets put on the naughty step.

Ash we are paying for a service and as this site is CLEARLY turning a profit these days is it unreasonable to expect a little value for money?

Got to say this whole issue has irritated me somewhat.

What we need to remember is Stan and the others are Moderators.

There is only one Administrator who can make the more significant changes.

A team of Moderators and a few Administrators is what is required - overseen by Ash.

Perhaps the key Moderators we currently have could be given Administritive rights.

This would all make sense and be how 99% of other boards work, but what we are up agaisnt is the fact that is board isn't your standard board. I can't imagine Stan has the coding knowledge required to make the differences he probably would be willing to.

So in effect a couple of techy people should be given small adminisitritive rights to be able to make small changes where required.

0wain always put his hand up the first time round to offer help where he could when Ash was initially silent when the new forum change was brewing. At the same time Stan (as a standard member) sat and posted 'lets hope the best happens' 'lets gather some opinions' etc etc and for that was given Moderation rights.

0wain laid down hosting packages, directions in which the site could go forwards to make it quicker and more stable.

As he wasn't listened to - and as we read was in fact ignored after offering proposed packages, I can understand why he is slightly frustrated.

I think Ash's profile sums up my issue.

The site was set up around 5 months prior to my joining and I dont post that much yet even I have twice the post count of Ash.

Membership was suggested way back when (by members not Ash) and im sure he is kicking himself now as that’s prob the best part of £15k - £20k lost in potential membership fees but that was his choice.

Now we are finally paying the issue here is value for money.

Luckily the forum code seems so poor I can still post whilst "banned".

    You aren't banned though.

You're just on the naughty step.

I got an email from Ash saying "Well done, you’ve earned yourself a 2-day ban."

Maybe it's a suspended sentence Dunno

Not being funny this is well out of order imo.
I dont see that Owain has said anything particularly offensive or out of line.
WTF is going on, you can't tell someone they are on thin ice and then just ban them anyway (Although clearly he can still post)

No you've got it wrong, the problem isn't Ash, or people being ignored, or the money, it's "the level negativity of people like me".

That's why the post editing feature didn't get fixed Yes

I've PM'd Stan to ask him to contact Ash and make sure you get your proper 2 day ban.

Let's do this one by the book.

TBH Ash's attitude to the whole thing is frankly shocking!

Im not saying we are lining his pockets and moving him into another tax bracket but as it can be deduced he is infact making money from the site.

I've got nothing against anyone making a bit one the side i'm just fed up on how many times we have to bring to Admins attention thats somethings not right, wait 3/4 weeks to have it sorted and then on top of that some members recieve a barrage of ABUSE from Admin for highlighting simply what is s**t service.

I guess the whole point of the naughty step is that it's to gain trust from your kids, they are able to run off if they want to, but they need to realise what they've done, be mature and have the self-control to stay there.

Clearly I wasn't brought up very well.

What I thought was funny was that in one of my posts the other day I said "Ash will come back, insult me then disappear for another month".

Now I hate to say I was right and everything, but... LOL
